Guess Big T didn’t think Kevin O’Leary was a good cast :joy:

Definitely. That movie just had me in awe as I watched it. The story, the time spanned, how it was shot, etc. Just majestic. The guys did a great job covering it and think it was my favorite review they did.

Best pod of the year once again

I would’ve loved to have heard some suggestions on who could’ve played that role. O’Leary the guy? Fuck him for sure. But I thought he was pretty good in the role.

Did he actually have to even act or did he just play himself???

Two that quickly come to mind are JK Simmons or Bryan Cranston could have played that role, as I’m sure many others. Had Kevin Spacey not gone astray he would have been perfect. Maybe even Jeremy Irons

Josh Safdie has said he cast him because he wanted it to be someone who viewers already associate with being an unlikable asshole, instead of an actor they probably have fondness for trying to get you to hate them. From that perspective, I think it works, because the character isn’t totally awful for the first chunk of the movie, yet you probably still have a visceral reaction to seeing that man on screen because you already know he sucks

This is the best pod of the year and has got me into watching the nominations every year.

I know I am the odd man out, but I hated Train Dreams. After it was over, my wife and I were discussing that if something were to happen to one of us, the last thing I would want is for the other one to spend the rest of their lives alone in the woods.

I watched it. It was great. Definitely deserving of it’s spot above Sinners. I was surprised how much it got to me

Finding Train Dreams thanks to this podcast and, lo and behold, Will effing Patton is the narrator? So good.

“I love watching Brad Pitt be a dude”
@Randy I had the exact same thought after watching F1, totally complimentary
