Also speaking of that qualifier: I’m heavily invested in James Nicholas getting in from there. He’s been grinding on the mini tours for years, does a great job on IG/YouTube at chronicling all of it, and finally has KFT status this year.
Our club champ is in the field (he is like 24/25 years old, son of a member) and right now is T42. I know most people on this threads / message board already get it but helps the perspective of how good professional golfers are when your club champ is getting absolutely blown away (10 shots off the lead through like 23 holes) in a not very stacked field.
A lot of the local guys are used to playing Canoe Brook so there’s a comfort factor that someone like Max wouldn’t have seeing it basically blind. I think Mikey T has qualified out of there twice already, same with Gotterup.
*where is Talor Gooch trying to qualify through!?
I’m glad the weather in MD is perfect because there’s a school next door that’s been firing an air horn off every 15 minutes since this morning.
They also assign more spots based on strength of field. In theory a qualifier with mostly PGA/KFT guys gets more spots than one with only a handful.
These guys are also confident enough that they shouldn’t care who else is in the field.
This is probably the right answer except they are also in a place with their games where they didn’t already auto-qualify so it does seem like an odd mindset.
Oof, Gordon Sargent went up to Canada. Hope he can manage to turn it around soon. Seems like he’s also playing as a pro, unless golf canada isn’t notating it. Kind of doubt any am would’ve made the trek up there.
He’s making his pro debut at the Canadian Open this week
Ouch, just saw he shot 80 and WD
Not to beat the same dead horse again and again here, but this one really annoys me.
Luke Clanton and Gordon Sargent are set to make their pro debuts in Canada after earning PGA TOUR cards via the PGA TOUR University Accelerated program.
Jimmy Hard K made an ace today in the Columbus region and he’s currently in on the number with the help of it.
He already tried and withdrew after like 10 holes of 36
Soft AF
There has always been a DC area qualifier.
Two friends of the pod doing well at Kinsale. Shout out to Justin Lower, in addition to Max.
Nowhere near his original hometown of Akron, but home game models
Your boy is leading. 2 clear of 2nd place with 11 to go. He is playing the harder of the two courses but if you have length, the back 9 is easier than the front except for 14, a long par 3 that I hate with a passion.
If you aren’t paying dues, you shouldn’t be in the club championship.
He has length to burn (not a shock for a KFT guy)
Brother, I have been trying to fight this battle for a few years now. Sadly for me I am not really in contention so me finishing 15 or 16 doesn’t matter all that much but I do think it should be limited to primary members only.
