2025 Texas Cup, March 28th-30th, definitely still at Pine Dunes

The Texas Cup seems to creep earlier and earlier each year, which is not intentional. Pine Dunes continues to get more and more popular, so in order to 1) avoid Masters and Easter weekend and 2) secure the first block of tee-times on both Saturday and Sunday, we had to move to late March. This late-march date actually helps the Strohs annual calendar quite a bit as it frees up the April-May-June slots for us to finish our Regional qualifiers and such. It’s also after the clocks change again (March 9th), so we’ll have plenty of daylight. Brings in the possibility of cooler weather, but that ain’t all bad.

So, save the date. Practice round March 28th, Fourballs and Greensomes March 29th, Singles March 30th. Affiliation to the Dallas metro, Houston metro, or Austin/San Antonio metro is the only requirement to play.

Registration will open probably the week after Christmas. We’ll require a $100 deposit at registration, as this is a pre-paid event (on my CC!). All four years have seen LOTS of movement off of the waitlist for all three teams as the event draws closer, so even if you miss the initial blast, get on the waitlist. You only owe the deposit when you’re registered, not on the waitlist. We’ll require the balance of the room + golf cost about four weeks out, to ensure a full event.

Lodging cost should be $165 per person (includes breakfast saturday and sunday), and golf an additional ~$450 or so (awaiting specific details, but it’s in that range). We’ll take up a collection for pizza on Friday, and BBQ or the like on Saturday, and you’re responsible for your own booze.

More detail as we get closer to registration time, but wanted folks to have the dates. Mark that calendar now, and avoid the weekend trip or wedding or 5k fun run or whatever might stop you from playing in this event, because it’s the most fun we have all year.

Who’s this for? All welcome? Roost vs roost? Just looking over events and seeing what’s possible for some travel golf.

We like to say that this event has a “strong preference” for players affiliated with the three major metro areas in Texas - Austin+San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas+Ft. Worth. It started before the Roost concept did, and both Plex and Stroh’s don’t use the Texas Cup as a Roost Qualifier event still.
