Small thing, but the newsletter says that the Summer Festival is coming up in just over a week. I’m sure all of us smarties here in the Nest know that’s not accurate and it’s supposed to be August.

@KVV gonna need some insight on Rolling Road. Restored at all? What are the greens like - some traditional willie park jr slopes and charm?

Restored about 5 years ago. Greens are really good. Very fast, some of the best in the area. Course sits on a very small footprint, under 100 acres. It’s one of the smallest footprints for a golf course in the entire country, but it works. Lot of elevation changes and blind shots, so it plays like a links course on some holes. There are some greens (3, 4, 6, 14, 16, 17) where you’d better be strategic about your approach or you will get absolutely ejected and putt off the green. Everyone thinks because it’s 6300 yards from the back tees that they will come in and tear it apart, and almost everyone gets punched in the face. Maryland will never play truly firm, particularly not in August, but it’s a really fun course that I’m eager to show off.

Here is my kid on 17, which is a cool Par 3.

Looove this. Glad to hear a restoration, Willie park Jr places are sweet and deserve it. My home club is I think 93 acres so totally feel the small footprint.

Think I’m gonna try and sign up for lottery for this, would like to see this place :handshake:

Shameless plug: There is some Rolling Road content on the CharmCity_NLU ig story for another 8 hours or so.

How has no one commented on this backswing position?? Geez, slightly bowed wrist - bit laid off - not over rotated or letting arms drift. Text book stuff here :pinched_fingers: :pinched_fingers: :pinched_fingers:

Obviously self taught.

Let’s go ahead for a second and compare her impact position vs. her dad’s…

I always assumed impact position was hereditary

That’s awesome stuff, kids having some stellar swing mechanics is so cool.

She a pretty long hitter? Would assume so based on positions

Starting to become one. Hitting it 200+ sometimes at age 13.

I was telling some friend recently, I have no idea if she can play in college. I’m not even sure I want her to, because I don’t want her to burn out and hate the game. But she’ll play in high school and I think play well. Watching her kick the shit out of cocky boys in her PGA Junior League — almost all of whom smirk when they see her show up at the first tee, then piss their pants when she rips it 25-50 yards past them — brings me as much joy as anything I’ve ever witnessed.

Speaking from my own experience, this is always a possibility. But if she wants to it doesn’t have to turn out that way. After a bad experience, I soured on the game for about 6 months and have been back ever since for 20 years.

The only thing I want to avoid is her going to some backwater college just so she can keep the dream alive of playing college golf, whether because it’s her dream or because she thinks it’s my dream for her. If she’s good enough to play somewhere, even walk on somewhere good, I’m all in. If she ends up at some shitty D2 school in Nowhereville Pennsylvania or whatever because they offered to cover half her tuition, then I would rather she play club golf at a school she wants to attend. She watched the Stanford WITL documentary at age 10 and declared she wanted to pay at Stanford and while I do not think that’s going to happen, I would have no qualms if she wanted to play at University of Montana or some place that might be more in line with her talents.
