A top ten is a top ten. I find the negativity surrounding a “back door” high finish a bit perplexing because why shouldn’t someone who is unlikely to win still not try to go as low as possible?

I think the negativity is mainly because people like to bring up how many top 10s some players have to back up their argument that a player can win. In reality they had to hit basically no shots under any significant pressure so it doesn’t say much about their ability to win.
Of course, 10th place gets 10th place money no matter how you got there so the whole discussion only matters on the message board

I followed Linn on Sunday (ok, technically I was following @LPondgolf). She was really impressive. Seems like she hits the shit out of the ball off the tee and her irons were absolutely dialed. She missed some putts or that back door top 10 might have been even better.

Some of it is the crowd, but the contrast in energy between the LPGA announcers vs the CBS PGA Tour announcers is on full display as they switch back and forth on Golf Channel right now.
