Y’all we need to pick a single thread. Either the US Women’s Open thread or this one.

I vote the even specific thread.

I don’t think there was a camera running on 9 towards the end of the day today, so this might go undocumented, but Gina Kim holed out for albatross on her final hole of the day to make the cut on the number at the ShopRite. Really sick stuff.

Edit: oops, looks like the cutline ended up moving from -2 down to -3. Mea culpa.

How about Linn Grant winning the Scandinavian Mixed yet again, this time shooting a 65 on Sunday and chipping in on the last hole to get into the clubhouse with the lead. Amazing stuff.

Sebastian Soderberg collapsed, shooting a 77, giving up an 11-shot lead (!!!), and in a final bit of sadness, yanked a two-footer to give Grant the win without even having to face her in a playoff.

Linn Grant is a two-time winner on the DP World Tour.

LC with a -4 final round to climb up into the top 10. We like that, @LPondgolf!

What’s up with the LPGA not allowing spectators for practice rounds? Staffing? Wanted to get out to the PGA on Wednesday but it’s closed to the public.

If I had to guess, historical lack of interest to attend practice rounds means it’s not worth staffing all the employees and volunteers for the amount of fans. It was the same case at Baltusrol last year.

“The 27-year-old started the day in joint 52nd and with a 0.001% chance of victory according to KPMG Golf’s statistics.”

Sheesh.

What an insane win. Unless SGS and/or NLU give this attention in the recap pods, this is going to get lost.

Imagine how nuts it’s would’ve been if Max shot 61 today to clip Scottie by 1. Strom’s win is like a level beyond that because she’s relatively unknown and 165th in the world.

Let’s go!!!

I could see Sahalee (KPMG PGA course) setting up similarly to Shaughnessy (where Lauren had a great showing in Vancouver). So hopefully we’ll see some continued great play!

It’s even better now!

Lauren is right in that hot hand spot where taking a so-called “bigger name” would be a lot harder to justify, especially since so few exist nearby. Lexi is 18th, DK is 19th.

Lilia Vu being out (likely) is going to free up a spot too.

What exactly did she do to her back? Played so good last year and now just being injured like this is just brutal.

Game within the game stuff: The Olympic rankings cutoff date is June 24 (day after KPMG Women’s PGA). The USA already has 3 players that are pretty much locked in with Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, and Rose Zhang. They can get a 4th player into the field if that player is top 15 in the world. Megan Khang is 16th and Alison Lee is 18th right now. There are also a number of Japanese and Korean players lurking outside of the top 15 as well.

She and LPGA media have been very close to the vest on this. The original injury occurred on /around Mizuho last year and she took a month off, and has recurred enough for her to have to WD the last two majors.

LC’s CME and Solheim standings are

With the way these things go and the politics involved with a returning captain, it would be best for LC (or any other first-time candidate, like Schmelzel) to make a completely irrefutable case (strong finish in 8th, for example).

On merit alone, LC has already made a very strong argument. It might come down to the number of spots available.

I would not be surprised to see Cheyenne Knight land a second pick in a row based on how she played in 2023. Lexi is almost certainly going if she wants to go and she definitely needs a pick. Kupcho’s a strong contender given her match play bona fides. Kang’s a wild card because of her history, but she’s a very difficult pick based on her current form.

Bailey Tardy and I are partnering up for Dow in a couple weeks. Anyone have some suggestions on a team name or a walk up song??
Any help is greatly appreciated :joy:
