I think thereâs a lot of pressure on athletes as public figures to have these very polished images. I think those expectations are often unfair and that people should, generally speaking, do what makes them happy so long as it doesnât harm others. Iâd much prefer my favourite athletes to be open about their vices than struggle with them privately or pretend they donât exist.

Snagged my son out of school early yesterday afternoon and headed over to LCC to see some practice. Didnât get to see a ton of golf but seeing Nellyâs swing in person was mesmerizing. She seems absolutely dialed. Fun showing my son all the places I usually miss on a lot of the holes too.

Second photo down, the girl in the blue skirt and white hat and top is Avery McCrery. Sheâs one of the top amateur golfers at Wilmington CC and briefly mentioned two weeks ago that she has a chance to be in the field if players need to drop out or something. (Sounded like a very specific situation - we joked if it was a Tonya Harding scenario that needed to happen)
Last week she asked if I was available on Monday to go out and caddy for her for one of her practice rounds there. Of course it being Memorial Day, the club was packed and I couldnât get an approval to go do it, but itâs freaking wild to imagine being out there in the same group as Nelly and just seeing her course management and skill for 18 holes.
