2024 NLU Summer Festival: August 26th @ Colorado Golf Club

Oh and fwiw the back tees at Castle Pines? 79.1 /154

I know there is a lot of water out there and 8,000 yards is a lot but I assumed that yardage would have been altitude adjusted for the purposes of course rating, no?

CP only ever had a Stableford event but my impression was the pros were taking it apart. Maybe that won’t be the case at the BMW?

I reaaaaaallly want to play castle pines from 8100 with that rating. That would be such a fun challenge

I wonder how much length they have added since The International was last out there. Think that was 05 or 06?

I saw a previous post asking about spare Sunday tix for the BMW - my fiancee is coming out with me and we’d love to snag an unused one if anyone will have one?

Parachuting in as a Colorado resident who plays a lot of golf on the coasts to say that IMO course raters generally do not account for altitude. That is, 6500 yards at sea level gets about the same rating as 6500 yards in Colorado, despite the fact that you’ll be hitting it 10% farther here.

I assume we will all be provided trackman’s on the range before the event so us folks who don’t live at altitude can dial in our numbers…

Is it actually 10% across the board for everyone or does it vary kinda like wind ie. some players benefit more than others downwind and get hurt more than others into etc.

Never played at significant altitude

When I’ve gone from sea level to Colorado I’ve used 6% increase on yardages and it’s been good. Just write it down on a card beforehand and quick reference

Or use vibes this isn’t the Tour

I was very much joking all I’m trying to do is make contact lol

I’m not saying I can dial in yardages either but 6% at the upper end of the bag can be a big change so good to factor in

It’s about 6% and definitely varies based on the played because the higher you hit it, the more you benefit. Even within your bag, the longer a ball is in the air, the more the altitude is likely to have an effect. So, driver gets more benefit than a wedge. And certainly lowball hitters would get less benefit overall than guys who hit moonballs.

I grew up in Colorado and hit it super high. Remember visiting Hawaii the first time and absolutely got destroyed in the wind. Just had no chance with my ball flight. I haven’t lived in CO for more than 20 years now and hit it much lower, which is fine but does stink when I visit the homeland.

What? No course here is rated at par until you get close to 7000 yards. Not true at sea level.

DAWGS hunt at any altitude.

Marriott with a tough scene trying to add a night onto my reservation :joy:

Was there a hotel block? I can’t remember or find it

I’m not sure. Think a bunch of us are at a Springhill Suites.

Just coming back from vacation – did you find one? If not, you’re welcome to mine. Not sure how we do that logistically.
