Good afternoon, my friends.
For those unaware or not in the Nest, I recently raffled off my Miuras and we had a duck race today. Shoutout to @TTrentC for having the fastest duck. The point of the raffle was widespread, but the main thing was getting me away from having two sets of irons at my house raising a little cash for the meetup. I am pleased to announce that we raised 700 dollars for the event. That’s rad. I’m extremely excited to have you all here and I think we have a really good weekend planned.
A couple things I’d like to add and a poll:
We found out last night that @zhanson38 isn’t going to be able to make it to the event, despite being on the board of governors. But he is helping us secure a tee time for Sunday (or is it Friday?) and you should still show him love for that. Very cool of him to help us plan out the event a bit to get everyone on the course together a few times.
@JScore and I talked a bit about how much we want to plan vs how much we want to let people do their own shit. We’ll start a little group chat eventually, which will obviously help with some of that, but the tentative idea is as follows:
Thursday - golf in Washburn, ND (3+ hours away) at Painted Woods Golf Course, aka the course @thedak, my dad, designed and built. If you want to do this, we’ll have to get a firm number on that to figure out transportation. Don’t need to know yet, but keep it in mind.
Friday - golf in Fargo/Moorhead. We haven’t figured this out, but we’ll probably get a block of tee times and just wing it. After golf, I know a dude who owns a brewery. Despite my intense hatred for that shit, I will try and hook that up so we can all hang Friday, if desired.
Saturday - The actual event will take place at Moorhead Country Club around 11 am. I have to check on that to be sure. We will shotgun at 11 and then go around again. Hoping to get in a full 36, but it does get darker earlier in September. That’s the plan though. Then we will have the club’s dining rooms for the event after and everyone can hang out as long as they want there.
Sunday - Morning golf at Edgewood in Fargo. Probably try and get out early to accommodate flights. Hopefully no one does anything too stupid Saturday night. Hahaha.
So that’s the plan right now, but obviously it’s a ways away. The actual event Saturday, the first 18 holes, is the only thing you “have” to be there for. If you don’t want to play with anyone else or want to explore other courses, by all means. We just figured it would be nice to take some of the planning off the board to make it a little more worth it for those coming up to this hellscape beautiful area.
Finally the poll. We have 700+ dollars. Jesse and I talked a bit about what we could do with that. We had some different ideas and I am going to lay them out. This is just to take the temperature of the crew and only for my curiosity and intense love of polls. Not legally binding.
