Whoop Band | NLU Group Code: COMM-NLUNLU

Anyone else actually wear a Whoop band on one wrist and a watch on the other? Or for most does the band replace a watch?

I subscribed for 18 months, but I agree, next Black Friday I’m going to extend the subscription. I love it so far. I haven’t been able to play golf since I got it, but when I skate, I love to see the heartbeat stats, and to see how I recover.

Spare battery is for sure not worth it. I think the trick is to just leave the battery that comes with in charging in your car and throw it on every few days while driving. That way if you forget to charge the band and get low you have access to it regardless of if you are at home or work.

This question has been making my brain hurt, if someone doesnt chime in i’ll give you my input when it shows up.

Wife got me a Whoop in early November and I’ve wore it everyday since so here are my thoughts. Let me preface by saying I am not an accessory guy, as in, I’ve never worn a watch, bracelet, fitbit, wedding ring, etc. Just can’t do it, too uncomfortable. I do not notice the band anymore even when playing golf. I think the biggest issue I’ve had is sometimes it gets caught in sleeve openings when putting on a dress shirt or jacket which is no big deal. I don’t buy into the calories burned stat but everything else is within reason. I think it really nails the recovery %'s. I spot check when I wake up sometimes and ask myself how I feel before looking and sure enough it gets it right. This all goes back to sleep and what I put in my body. I’m not training for the Olympics or anything but this thing has helped me understand what my body responds to and what it doesn’t. Whoop keeps me more accountable. For example, I like to come home after work and drink 2-4 beers. I don’t get a buzz it’s just a way to unwind. On nights I do that, my recovery stinks regardless of the hrs of sleep I get. Every morning you are prompted to answer questions about alcohol, device usage, tobacco and a few others. On nights I drink 2-4 beers after work the data proves I sleep worse and that makes you more aware of how you actually feel. Been making a more conscious effort to drink more water during the day, avoid unnecessary junk, and practice better sleep habits. On days I have green recovery %'s it motivates me to push through tough workouts since I know my body is ready to handle. Just my two cents.

as i said above i wear my watch on one and the whoop on the other. i ran it by my wife and she said it looks fine. also JT and everyone else throws their rolex on with their whoop after the round and it didnt look bad. its waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than putting them on one wrist if that is what you are thinking.

edit: also my friends have not made fun of me and if it looked close to stupid with something on each wrist they would have

I’ve gone the route of just having the whoop on and gave up my Apple Watch as a daily thing. I’ll wear them both when I am running and such but other than that I go solo strap. This thing has been quite interesting. Very cool with the recovery and sleep stuff.

So I do get to play a good amount of golf, and I spend a lot of time on the range working on swing these new swing changes. I’ve noticed my practice is so much easier and it is easier to stay focused on high recovery days. Has anyone else noticed something similar?

After cancelling my order months ago due to poor customer experience, I am now evaluating whether or not I should buy one and if I should commit to the 18 months for the savings.

Thoughts?

  • Buy for 18 months
  • Buy for shorter period
  • Don’t buy

I’m currently trialing for 6 month. So far I’ve gotten a lot out of it, and if I continue to enjoy it, I will be committing to 18 months when my 6 months expire.

I ended up canceling before the end of my 6 mo. period and don’t even wear it anymore. I don’t know if I’m just trying to confirm my initial theory about its long-term usefulness but after stopping, I don’t feel any worse. I feel it’s a much more useful tool for professional athletes who need to monitor their recovery to peak at a certain time but my normal ass doesn’t need that and life doesn’t allow for such flexibility.

Did you just eat the remainder of the 6-month commitment or did they note charge you?

They kept doing the monthly charges until the 6 mo. cycle ran out.

Been a while since I looked at pricing. So what did a 6 month run with it cost all in?

I think $180 total ($30/month). No separate fee for the band or anything.

Is it bulky? It looks bulky on all the golfers that wear them.
