Whoop Band | NLU Group Code: COMM-NLUNLU

Probably should have mentioned I have two kids under 4 so sleep is… never great.

Yep. Exactly this. As shown in graphs below when my rhr spiked and my hrv plummeted I had my 1% recovery score. Shortest nights sleep too. Finally starting to see some trends and able to understand what fully rested vs partial feels like

Any chance I can sneak into the Whoop group? Just got mine last Friday so still going through the calibration phase. @NobodiesMedic is my Whoop user name.

Hydration and sleep do it for me.

Well, I’m finally starting to work out again and am interested in actually tracking my activity/recovery. I’ve noticed multiple PGA tour guys wearing a Whoop, which is influencing my decision. Having read through this thread some I may pick one up.

either I’m the most out of shape person @ 6ft 165 lbs, or juul-boy-nayshh really spikes your strain scores with that nicotine rush (increases hr?) cuz im hitting 20’s riding in a cart for 18. sure its hot out and im drenched, but i aint runnin no marathons out here…

Get the bicep band.

fuck. i was hoping someone wouldnt say thats the reason…

Here’s a round of golf on my wrist:

And one on my bicep

And a range session on my wrist

do you know why there is a difference between wrist and bicep? I would just think that they would have a way to have them closer? I get that they would be different readings in different locations, I just feel like they shouldn’t be THAT different.

I believe @Soly posted awhile back, the wrist band tends to register a higher strain when hitting a golf ball than a bicep band, probably due to the difference of the force of the impact on the wrist vs. bicep.

A lot depends on the person. Like for me, I’m pretty thin and there is very little to no flesh on my wrist and the optical heart rate monitor likes a little bit of flesh. Also it’s hard for a lot of people to get a good proper fit on their wrist and then other light gets in there and hurts the measuring ability. And lastly there is this weird issue a lot of optical heart rate monitors have on the wrist where they pick up the motion of the wrist instead of the blood flow.

Personally I find the bicep band far more comfortable.

im surprised at the arm comfort you experience. that was my major hang up. ill be buying today.

Agreed on the bicep band being better. I had no desire to wear it 24/7 on my wrist so the bicep band was the only way it was going to work for me. It’s worked out well and is barely noticeable - by me or others - almost all of the time.

Ive had a WHOOP band for a week now, and I already improved my handicap by 15 strokes… Thats how it works, right?

I think folks with wrist accuracy are probably not wearing it tight enough. It should be difficult to get your pinky finger under the band and I do not expect many people find that tightness comfortable.

I know I wear mine tight and it frankly sucked for the first week.

I don’t seem to have that problem. Usually riding or a range session gets me to like 5-6 strain but walking has been between 12-18 strain and I’ve only worn on my wrist. I’m probably ordering a bicep band though purely since I don’t want a wrist tan line lol

EDIT: strain walking is between 9-15. The day strain on one day was an 18
