Yeah TM is no Vice in that way …
No I am not buying 120 breakfast balls!
i completely agree with all of this.
i think most of us were adjusting HC’s week to week. Don’t want to call anyone out, and i don’t know of anyone who wasn’t. If it was done, i don’t think it was done nefariously. But I adjusted.
also agree with @djheadley that the sub pool worked out almost perfectly. so whatever the ratio was to people interested to actual tee times, we should plan for that next year. i believe we had 25% more interest than times. that’s probably going to be the attrition we typically see… or worse.
a few more things:
i’d be up for setting up a 5iron breakfast ball winter sim league. i bet we could call them and set it up. we could do 9 hole matches at like 7 a.m. place is open early.
we also need a BREAKFAST BALL BANQUET.
we should also kick some funds into a kitty for prizes, trophies, etc.
So I am 90% sure I have the whole tee time right after us booked for next week. I say 90 cause I booked it over the phone and never got a confirmation email, so I’m a little skeptical and also can’t remember what the tee time was. If we don’t end up needing I’ll just cancel by next Wednesday, but it’s there if subs/not winners want it for next week.
Yeah, pure speculation on my part. 3 tee times was perfect this year. I can see a couple more people showing interest for next year after a full season went so well.
The pro shop guy came out to the first tee and asked if we still wanted those tee times, so I’d recommend calling again and verifying. They overbooked this morning so we weren’t the first group off which was jarring.
Yeah I originally had two spots booked at 6:30am today, so I had a feeling something was up when we were expecting to tee off at 6:30.
Can confirm. After all the fun this year, highly considering signing up to be a full member for next season.
My one worry about having four tee times is would people in that last wave have trouble getting to work on time when we’re in the parts of the year where we’re teeing off around 6:30?
Yeah, I think 4 is the max. If it blows up beyond, say 24 interested people, the move is probably to go to two days. Tue/Thu or something.
Had a pretty consistent summer outside of a lifetime best of 80 and my season-worst being 101. Handicap has been anywhere from 14.7 to 13.1 (current) and I’ve always had a quota of 11.
Although, outside of Red Tee Week, I actually never calculated my Syd handicap (fml) and went off my regular (divided by 2) so when I was 14.3+ I should’ve actually played as an 8 with a quota of 10. Left some points on the board
Last year I was a 19.2 and dropped as low as 13.7 as the year progressed so that would’ve been bad if I kept it the same.
the whole “you gotta pay up front” part of it is a good thing to gauge commitment and should cap us at 20 tops i bet. although the beauties known as @rmbartell @FlapjackNickelsack and @treeputttim prove that erroneous i suppose.
Really need to get a trophy with a clock on top, and smash the face in.
this is also a great call. thought about this earlier. could help for subs and scheduling. would also get more complicated. surely someone can design a spreadsheet that could sort that out though.
Just wait until 10/7 when the first group isn’t going off until 6:55… Gonna have to push my 8am “meeting” to a 9am “meeting”
Anyone have a good camera they would want to bring out and maybe photograph the clocktower?
I have this idea that we hand out a trophy/plaque we hand out to the winner. If we take a picture of clocktower we could get it burned or carved into the wood and put like “Race to the Clocktower” on it?
What are your thoughts?
YES.
the people with art skills surely have a camera.
i do have a camera. it has terrible cell phone reception but it could work.
If everyone of the 15 or 16 would want to chip in 5 bucks we could make this work. I am thinking the second link where they carve it. That would cool. Let’s get a picture first before we make any rash decisions.
Though I would love to have it to crown our champion on 10/7
Love the idea of some kind of downside for last place, very in line with the NLU brand. Although I’m not sure how last place gets determined. Would be funny if you had to play Sydney on 10/31 in a Tiger costume like this:
No problem.
