Know Syd is year round but wonder if since early season if they turf protect
Sounds like a guy who doesn’t wanna play this week in tough conditions
Got the new white Jones blind draw to blend in with the snow.
Lmao
In all seriousness I did reach out to Mel at Sydney to make sure they will be open. If I hear back it’s closed if not we’re teeing off at 6:30 Thursday morning.
Groups and the game to be announced tomorrow.
Just got off the phone with Mel. We are going to cancel this week and shorten the season a week.
Next week looks much better for golf. If anyone has the itch to golf this Thursday we could do an early morning 5iron round
See y’all on masters Thursday!

Does anyone want the Credit Cards points next week? It’s $4,400 for the group and the only downside is tracking people down $550 for Venmo or a briefcase of cash. If no one wants it I’ll gladly take the cc points
Thanks for proactive notice. I always view those pts as the planners payment, happy to paypal/zelle/chase/google pay to spread the funds.
Through deck the Ballz and March mudness I’ve gotten a lot of points so happy to share the wealth to the WBC community
Also let me know if you have your advantage players card already and I’ll edit the invoice. It’s $30 this year which knocks a few bucks off each round so that it comes out to $26 a round this year
Touch confused. I haven’t renewed my players card for 2024 yet but are you saying it would knock down the $550 as each round would be $26 instead of $30 or are you just saying it knocks down additional rounds outside of WBC?
Also next week we are doing a Ryder cup style match play between the mid caps and low caps. Every can toss in $10 to the pot and winning team will take the pot.
Cut-off for low cap is 5ish and matches will be played against highest in each camp and down
@rmbartell (9.7) vs @Cswartz (5.1) - Bartell getting 3 strokes
@ChiFFI (8.0) vs @WillyK (2.0) - Aaron getting 3 strokes
@delirioustim (7.1) vs @TheAbeFroman (1.9) - Tim getting 3 strokes
Myself (7.1) vs @Ballgame (1.2) - Danny getting 3 strokes
As the mid cappers are all getting 3 strokes, I’m proposing we all pop on the following holes #3, #4 and #7. These were the hardest holes based on last years data so only makes sense to mark these as pops.
The fact that on average the group is a 5.3 index is insane. If we get our average round to sub 90 minutes and an average score of 40ish that would be an amazing result this early in the year
Players card are $30 for the year.
Buying a players cards knocks the rack rate of $28 per round to $26 per round
Me subbing in and ruining the average round scores
Doing to many things at the same time so my brain hurts. Apologies for clarifying again lol but is his correct:
- WBC league dues are $550 for each of us
- (Separately) 2024 card renewal is $30
— If I renew card rounds at Syd go from $28 to $26
— However, if I renew card my league dues are still $550 (not 26/28ths of $550)
Inflation hitting the players cards too…Thanks Obama
I have not renewed my card for '24 assuming the league included, please renew mine w the league or whatever is best for me as my financial advisor.
Moooree CC points
I am most certainly the mid cap team’s man in the envelope but i will definitely give winning a try. Just hoping for Bobby Mac type glory.
Sounds good to me except:
I’m proposing we all pop on the following holes #3, #4 and #7. These were the hardest holes based on last years data so only makes sense to mark these as pops.
Score relative to par isn’t great for handicapping. You could call #2 a par 4 and it would be the “hardest” on the course yet nothing changed about the hole. If you did a histogram of each hole I bet you’d find that #3 is pretty narrow (lots of 3s and 4s, not too much else), whereas I’d expect #5 to have the widest range of outcomes. My personal order for HC holes is 5, 4, 2, 7, 9, 1, 8, 3, 6
I thought players card saved $5 per round?!
That was Valas’s platform.
(This is a joke)
