Waveland Breakfast Ball Club: 2025 (Chicago, IL)

For the newbies, what’s our typical start time? Is it sunrise plus 15 minutes or something?

last year we literally sat on the first tee and wait for the sun to rise… so it’s probably 5 minutes after sunrise? @ChiFFI @TheAbeFroman and @PinkPantser surely have better memory than i.

also, @djheadley we need penalties for slow play!!! no putter for a round?

Double bogey max. If you play in over 2 hours the next round you cannot bring a putter.

If you don’t pick up after double bogey, 1 stroke penalty accessed to the next hole.

Thoughts?

Love this.

Seems unnecessarily formal and rigid. If you want to finish out and it doesn’t hold up play, who cares? The TC Way and all that.

i love the ingenuity and creativity but yeah i would just say double bogey max and leave it at that.

some high handicappers may want to finish out but after you miss or make the triple you legit should just pick up right? stroke adjusted and what not?

i like that the 2 hour thing makes the whole group be accountable.

the end of the day, we’re not trying to be dicks but we all have to get back to work, and we all want to make this “work” for our schedule, so hustle!!!

also first tee time thursday is 6:03

Do we have a batting order for this Thursday or is it just first four guys there go out first?

It is decided then!

Rule 1b. If you play in over 2 hours the next round you cannot bring a putter.

If doing best ball and team matches, we may need ahead of time. Selfishly, I took on a project on Eastern time and need that first group out with their earlier start.

I am all for the pace of play but have no immediate rush to get back in the coming weeks and will happily volunteer to be in the last group out for the time being if it helps other guis be able to play.

Shoutout me for being so selfless

I’ll take position 1 on the 6:12

I’ll do 6:21 cause we have remote learning so i dont 'need to worry about school drop off.

(see this is the #realworld shit we are dealing with!)

Well dang I’ll find weeks I can slide around. Really need to move that standing Thurs morning call, but established before I joined.

we won’t be locked into this for the whole SZN! just one week.

Added a few tabs to the spreadsheet for us with the help of @TeddyPargame!

Second tab has a calendar for now through September to call out when you know you will miss. Please fill this out so the subs can try and plan around known misses.

As we know life gets in the way (cars breakdown @ChiFFI) and last minute subs will be needed. It will be on the original member to find last minute subs via the boards.

Lastly, I created a leaderboard for the Quota game and I will update on a weekly basis starting May 6th. I’ll do all the back end work via an excel doc and keep that offline so that I can only edit it.

As of now the plan is to play the Quota game for total points from May through August. September will be the race to the clocktower playoffs with top Quota winners either getting strokes/byes in the first round.

Rules for the Quota game are as follows (All gross scoring):

Bogey = 1 point
Par = 2 points
Birdie = 4 points
Eagle = 8 points

Unlike a Stableford event where players are simply accruing points, in Quota, players start with a point hurdle of 36 less their handicap. So, a 16 handicap player would start with a quota of 20. If the player earned 25 points during a round, total score would be 5 for the day. For purposes of our 9 hole course just divide your handicap by 2 and the point hurdle is only 18. So a 16 handicap is an 8 with a quota of 10 (18-8).

You will not be penalized for missing weeks, but you will not earn any points. In an effort to also include subs into the game and factor in a couple rain outs, we are capping total rounds counted toward Quota between May and August at 10 rounds. This gives you 7 chances to either skip or for Mother Nature to try and ruin our game. Additionally, you must play at minimum of 4 rounds of golf to be entered into the rankings. I’ll enter everyone’s quota onto the leaderboard and their rounds played so you will know who is meeting the minimum rounds played.

As the 25 rounds end at of September 30th. We will shoot to have the championship the week after that date, so lock it in. For the month of September we will assign matches based on total Quota points accumulated. There will be 16 field bracket style playoff (12 regs, and top 4 subs (min of 4rounds). If someone is out of the playoffs then it is next sub up.

There are only a few rules for breakfast ball golf:

  1. If you play in over 2 hours the next round you cannot bring a putter.
  2. Play fast have fun.
  3. Say hello to all bikers and runners on the running path on holes 8 and 9. Let’s be neighborly as one day you may ask them to toss you a golf ball over the fence.

See you all Thursday!

my man, can you please make the new spreadsheet editable for anyone with the link?

also, can we consolidate this with the roster that we already had going? You can copy paste the roster into a new tab in your spreadsheet if you want

My bad! I consolidated it all and repasted the link in the post.
