I watched it all in one evening, and am probably going to do a rewatch before the inevitable TrapDraw and subsequent TV Club we do. It’s that good, and for my money has a firm grasp on “The Belt” as far as best show on television in 2023.
Told my wife after S1E1 that Richie was my favorite character and she was in disbelief. Watching her cheering Richie on to T Swift made my night.
Love a good redemption story! E6 was incredible, but I’m a sucker for happy endings. E7 might honestly be the best episode of television I can remember watching.
Forget exactly who said it, but that was the greatest episode of Ted Lasso ever made. It’s the summer of Taylor, and somehow Richie now owns Love Story.
I swear Oliver Platt’s acting here was Emmy worthy on its own. No words, and SO much conveyed. I absolutely teared up, and I sort of am again just remembering it.
Just finished the season. I’ve never ugly cried both happy and sad tears so many times during a span of just a few episodes. A few thoughts, one which I’m sure will be very unpopular.
I thought Ep 6 was overdone. I think all the manic yelling in the beginning bothered me so much that it put me off for the rest. It felt like how many cool cameos can we cram in here to make an Emmy winning episode of over the top drama. After the beautiful understated Marcus episode right before it, I just wasn’t feeling it.
Now Ep 7 was a freaking masterpiece. One week seems kinda short for that kind of character growth but damn, Richie had me totally believing in every second of it. “I wear suits now” might be my favorite line from the series in a show full of amazing lines.
One of my favorite little scenes was Tina singing Freddy Fender. Brought me back to growing up with classic country.
Fak is my favorite person
I never thought a cannoli or a chocolate banana could reduce me to a weeping mess but here we are
Thank you again to everyone who sang the praises of this show and inspired me to give it another chance. What an incredible piece of art it is.
As an enormous Pearl Jam fan, I was absolutely dumbstruck when they dropped Throw Your Arms Around Me as the closer to episode 8. Legit had me tearing up, it’s my favorite cover of theirs and it’s incredibly obscure.
