Trap Draw: Napa Valley

Sorry just messing with bidumngo since he won’t like anyone else’s posts.

I want to hear how these guys pronounce Etobicoke.

Lady in my office absolutely butchers it every time she says it.

It should all be provinces.

I’m so out on the territories that I think we should just draw new lines and every province gets whatever is directly north of them

Ehhhhh I’m not in on that.

I would like to see the Territories have the same powers as the Provinces, rather than the provinces just get whatever is above them. That seems very colonial to me.

I think there’s some (un?)spoken problematic political forces at play with territories. There’s something paternalistic about them and I don’t think that’s necessary an unintended byproduct

If anything we need fewer provinces and maybe more territories. Like PEI? Come on.

On behalf of all of Canada, obviously, I accept @Tron’s apology. Only a minor international incident.

In all seriousness, Canadians are like the uncool kind in school wondering if the cool kid even knows they exist. Nothing we like more than Americans mentioning us, even if they call us Erica when our name is actually Erin.

We like who we are and wouldn’t switch places with the cool kid, but we still crave their attention and validation.

Now, for some wine.

I came for the long awaited breakdown of the Kings and their disfunction and stayed (begrudgingly) for what was an admittedly interesting discussion about wine. Not withstanding, I needed Randy to break down the ceiling for this young Kings squad and a tag team breakdown of the Jeffrey David situation/thoughts and opinions on his 7 year sentence to the penn. Tuffff scene for the respective credibility of the fellas moving forward.

I need a monthly c-suite update where Tron just talks about high end hobbies

Happy to join the discussion for fly fishing and squash.

I thought this was a great episode, I loved the wine talk. @anon24718094 was fantastic. I will be joining one of his sessions.

BUT, I do really appreciate the OPs mention of Tron using the word “petrol” instead of gasoline. There is absolutely no good reason for this (I watch plenty of F1 and would never say it) beyond trying too hard to be high brow. I DEMAND an apology. Thanks.

@Tron earned some points for the apology. I mean, let’s be honest, we’re Canadian’s so it was more of a feeling of disappointment, rather than anger.

Hot take though, maybe the US needs fewer States. Land masses are pretty similar, populations are way different, but really need so many?

We need a full contingent of ducks on hand for that one.

I like wine as much as the next guy but I’m not sure I learned anything about Napa Valley? The Waffle House family dysfunction needs some more treatment.

When I was in school there wasn’t much discussion on the racism and poor treatment indigenous people have been receiving from the Canadian government basically since Confederation. Upon learning more as an adult, the way territories are setup is something that was absolutely created by a white man to help maintain their base of power.

The alternate argument is that the territories are so vast and lightly populated they would be difficult to govern from a central location. The problem is why we need to draw boundaries and boxes around a people who are largely tribal and are happy living in little communities and governing themselves.

Let’s get back to Napa. Super fun podcast, really enjoyed it. My wife even listened and told me she might start listening to the TrapDraw as well, which is definitely a win. Great work @anon24718094

I think this episode embodied why I love the Trap Draw. I would have never hit play on a podcast about wine but thoroughly enjoyed this one. They way they have based the show off the location of the tour but not made it a travel podcast is also brilliant. The golf analogies are fun but not overdone, perfectly adjacent. Then mix in the pairing of C Suite Tron and Big Randy and it creates the perfect duo and I think that was really highlighted in this episode. Keep it up @Tron @Randy

Would it kill Randy and TC to google reverse grid F1? You run a 20 lap race reverse seeded by championship points on Saturday to seed the Sunday grid. It’s both an awesome idea and not that complicated.

Just getting fully caught up on some missed Trapped Draw episodes and this may have been my favourite one so far.

I absolutely love listening to people who know what they’re talking about speak on any subject, but I also really enjoy drinking wine so having @anon24718094 do his thing on this was exceptional listening.

One thing that particularly intrigued me, Mark, was in the exercise you went down with Randy after he said he really liked Pinot Noir and Cab Sauv.

My preference for wine is definitely Cab Sauv (shoutout Robert Mondavi Private Reserve Bourbon Barrel for being an affordable and delightful bottle of wine), but I find myself as more of a red fruit fan.

Any reason for this juxtaposition?

As always, well done @Tron and @Randy. This and the Wally Szczerbiak episodes were awesome excellent.
