Amazing story. What kind of ideas did the owner have for going viral?
The one I remember the most was taking my uniform off and getting all the way down to my drawers then running out of the stadium. I would never rip the uni off, Iām way too self conscious for that, but I wish I would have run out of the stadium or straight to the bullpen bar instead of going through the clubhouse. Like I said, I wasnāt even that fired up! I couldnāt think of anything fun because I was so shocked!
Hahaha - āThe Banana Peelā
I donāt need video footage of Goodbar getting kicked out primarily because I cant get his swing out of my head from The Loop episode
I wish my swing was that cool.
Iām terrified my swing might be āthat coolā
Even John Daly was impressed with how far Goodbars club comes back
People who get worked up enough to get ejected from youth sports games all should be sent to Gitmo. The youth sports culture in this country is a disgrace and these people are 99% of the reason why.
You just donāt understand, little Brodie and Bayla have the makings of a D1 athletes. The local recreation league was just holding them back.
Had a kids dad on my hockey team growing up who got banned from attending our games after fighting another parent on our own team(he amazingly didnāt get banned when he fought someone from the other team earlier in the year). He ended up in prison a few years later. Unfortunately not Gitmo though.
Also had a coach kicked off our team for going after a kid from the other team in the hallway after that kid got thrown out.
That was a wild year.
I truly donāt understand this kind of behavior. I have some very good friends who act like lunatics at our kids games and, when we are out, spent about 95% of their time talking about the kids games. I have to ask my wife from time to time if Iām a bad dad because I really donāt care that much about their games and have zero interest in these conversations. I hope my kids have fun, are successful, and I support them and do what I can to get them to their goals but I just canāt muster up much interest in the outcome of their games. I hope they win because it will make them happy and, regardless, I hope they do well but the idea of getting even mildly upset during a game, let alone angry enough to get kicked out, is completely foreign to me.
This is the correct way.
It seems obviously true to me but then Iāve got these friends who are smart, successful, and well adjusted who have made their kids the center of their lives. I guess Iām an older soul when it comes to stuff like this but Iād much rather give the kids space, let them do their thing and become the person they want to be and only have a heavy hand with really important stuff.
I get being invested in the outcome HS games, where in theory there is a real prize at the end. I also get not being invested in those games.
I do not understand caring what happens in a 5th grade travel ball game. Literally will not matter in a week tops. Nobody cares.
As far as the refs go, when I was coaching my motto was āNever attribute to malice that which could be easily explained by incompetence.ā Still true.
The bullpen bar?!
Tell Goodbar that nothing good comes from getting kicked out.
Been coaching a 5/6 b-ball team for last 2 years. Competition level is between AAU and local Rec. Referees are the people who handle JV basketball or below. Generally cannot move around the court and are incapable of understanding how to ref 11-12 yr old boys. I generally let most things go but get upset when the other team puts 2 hands on one of my guys and shoves them. I am flummoxed by what constitutes a travel these days.
This is worse than most of the ejection antics IMO. What a complete loser. Did your pitcher end up having to let one loose?
I remember playing in a high level national tournament when I was 15ish and the third base coach had a tip on our pitcher. He would either yell the batters name or some catch phrase (ābe on time!ā) during our pitcherās windup. They were all over our pitcher and got to him pretty good. I was the catcher so of course I was nervous they were picking up my signs, but pretty sure it wasnāt me. Anyway, I ended up thinking that was some weird shit because itās not making his players any better or helping their development in a high level tournament when they could learn a lot. Wonāt be doing that when Iām coaching.
Catching a game when your pitcher is getting shelled is one of the worst feelings! My first game back from the suspension that was previously mentioned I had the ump that tossed me behind the plate. We couldnāt buy a strike and I 100% felt like it was my fault because he was holding a grudge on me. We lost 27-4 and the coaches made a pact in the 3rd anything that none of them were gonna give the prick the satisfaction of going off on him and getting tossed.
Luckily he didnāt. The league director came down and she handled it and put a stop to the bullshit. Then she watched me go change my shirt in my truck and come down and sit just outside the dugout without the umpire noticing and she never said anything to me to leave.
