in 9th grade had a geography class where I do not joke - we spent half the year talking about the 1980 st helen’s eruption and what will happen when Rainier blows. It will be catastrophic.
teacher was obsessed with it.

I have close family south of Tacoma, quite close to Rainier and I told them when they moved there that they needed to be careful about their choice of home. There needed to be egress to the north that didn’t cross any of the canyons so you can escape if there are lahars (mudslides from melting ice/snow). Seismic activity will always increase prior to an eruption, so there will likely be plenty of warning like Mt. St. Helens.

Oh the bright side it looks like Tron only checks the refuge every 6 months or so, and since his last post was April, he’ll be checking in right around the time Ranier blows?

Looks like we are going to avoid an eruption. The quakes are getting smaller, which is apparently typical of these kinds of events.

This seems rather…easy? JetBlue has 30+ destinations on the east coast states alone. So while flight options might be limited the flight time has to be really low
