Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

The stopover excursion perk was one of the best parts of their program. I used it to add additional destinations like Tokyo onto an Australia / New Zealand, Slovenia & Berlin onto Munich, and Istanbul onto Italy all for zero miles and just taxes. It was a big plus that’s now gone. Sad.

This Wendover Productions YT channel makes some really good short docs. This on the downfall of Southwest Airlines really got to the core issues affecting them.

Flew from Medford to Seattle on my way to Pittsburgh for a wedding.

Sat on the right side of the plane and saw Crater Lake, Mt McLaughlin, The Three Sisters, Mt St Helens, and Mt Rainer!

Big thrill and delight! Put my college minor in geology to use! I geeked on seeing the blown out side of Mt St Helens from above and I cannot wait to visit crater lake when the snow melts

BA with some interesting in-flight entertainment

Cheeky

Honestly not surprised. BA crews on multi-day layovers in Baku would get absolutely schmacked when I lived there. SF being an easy place to get virtually any kind of drug, sounds like some dude found himself with a mix that included few delayed-release quaaludes. Or just took shrooms/acid/whatever way too late in the layover.

First time flying international for the honeymoon, first time my wife has flown period. She got TSA Precheck with me and we get through security in CLT and she goes “this is so easy, why do people stress about flying?”

Not sure I have the heart to tell her

First time for her flying at CLT is a rude introduction to airports in general.

Congrats on your nuptials though!

This actually sounds quite delightful:

Flight attendants quickly clothed the steward using spare pyjamas designated for First Class passengers. The crew then escorted him to the premium cabin section, where they secured him in a luxury seat for the flight’s duration.

Bump - just wanted to highlight that the construction project in EWR closing RWY 04L/22R was originally NOTAM’d to be completed on June 15 has already wrapped up and that runway has re-opened on June 2nd which should help with some of the ATC issues affecting EWR.

Eventful couple days of travel for us. We just spent a week in Switzerland with our 16 month old as our first big trip with him. Our flight out of Zurich on Saturday was going nicely for Chicago until about 3 hours in, they announced that we were diverting to Iceland due to a medical emergency. Upon landing, we learned that there were multiple flight attendants that had started to feel sick and two were taken to the hospital. The crew was already short staffed, so with these two dropping it meant we didn’t have the minimum people required to work, so we were stuck in Reykjavik. I spent over an hour on the phone with a United agent while she was trying to get us re-booked on anything and she finally got us on the KEF-ORD flight Sunday afternoon. Our entire plane was taken by bus to various hotels where meals were provided and I have to give United props for how they handled this part of the process in an airport where they only operate one flight. On the flight to Chicago yesterday, we sat next to several of the flight attendants that were dead heading back and she said that they were concerned about some sort of gas leak in the aft that made the crew sick and that plane had yet to leave KEF as of yesterday. Also got a nice $1500 travel voucher within a couple hours of arrival in Iceland.

Things looking up at EWR for United and other carriers

“Summer travel is in full swing, and after a great Memorial Day start, we have more good news to share about Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

The airport’s runway construction project is now complete. That means all runways at Newark are open, and we’re confident that will lead to even better on-time performance for our airline.

During Memorial Day weekend, one of the busiest of the year, EWR beat New York LaGuardia (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International (JFK) in on‑time departures, and over the last two days of the weekend, EWR had the best on-time rates of any large airport in the country.

Here’s a short video about everything our team is doing to make sure you have a great travel experience when you fly through Newark.”

I’m sure I’ll get a 3 hr delay on my next flight now just for posting this

Pala Pizza is really solid. Definitely a few wins above replacement in terms of airport dining.
