Hurried early morning breakfast, Manny’s if time.
Now those Dunkins aren’t even open early.
That sounds super brutal.
I get Midway is not great, but I think it’s solid. My airport ratings are jaded because while we have to deal with lots of BS in Chicago (gestures widely), we rarely have to deal with layovers. So I’m just launching and landing in MDW and ORD.
My MDW memories are crushing cold macros before bachelor parties at Oak Street Beachstro, and they’ve evolved to family trips. But that’s not really an objective perspective to rate the place I understand.
This big time:
And this bigger time
took my son to get his global entry at noon. Ask the guy there hey im conditionally approved for my renewel can i do my interview now as well…“oh thats great you can come back at 2 and sign up for walk in” my son and i are literally the only people there and there are two agents… nope sorry come back at two. Just great customer service a few weeks after i had to cut a giant check to the IRS just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
And granted I have only ever connected through Midway, probably just under 10 times? So I have no clue about the experience of starting or finishing there.
Just to me feels like such a big, central airport should be a better airport for connections
You’re right.
It raises a fascinating point about the industry. SW comes in, makes it a hub, all of a sudden it’s a busier airport than it’s probably designed to be. SW’s success exploits it as an airport.
SW isn’t selling the more “luxurious” or comfortable side of air travel, so they don’t care what the terminal is like.
For sure a bit of C-suite issue but even as Sky Priority members because you can’t use the Delta App to check in for an Air France or KLM flight (or for a Delta flight originating international) we have to check in at the desk where they somehow couldn’t add the “Sky Priority” on our tickets. So i’m showing the security people and the gate people the App that shows the Sky Priority tag but they say no because it’s not on the ticket. All around gong show.
Sky Team/Delta need to get a universal app that works for all member airlines!
Speaking of Delta, WSJ reporting that sky lounge access is now being restricted. BLUF: You can only access the lounge within 3 hours of your departing flight.
Which as someone in the article pointed out, it’s really less than 3 hours because they board the plane 40 minutes before departure.
Just add it to the ever growing list of indignities we have to endure traveling nowadays.
Need @Tron to get on the horn to his guy Scott Kirby and have them make me an offer to come over to Team United. I’ve been a Delta guy for years but then cancelling my flight to Newark this morning is the last straw.
Their ineptitude has now cost me a round at the site of this years US Am. Ed Bastian is dead to me
Ed Bastian was never alive. He is an automaton.
Good leads the way. That’s all you need to know.
That sucks, @BaxterMSP. Why was the flight canceled?
“Operational Issue”
100% a Delta problem and I’m legit worried that the 7:45 PM flight I’m now on will get cancelled too.
On the bright side I’m very excited for the inevitable “we’re sorry, here’s 5k skymiles that get you nothing” which should totally make up for missing out on a top NJ course
You didn’t make that wheel squeak loudly enough. I’m sure they could’ve gotten you on another flight into the metro area.
Do they even know who you am?
Yikes and also very expected.
Last Saturday, we were on the same row as a Delta pilot trying to get to ATL. Our flight was delayed an hour, which meant the flight he was working was going to be even later. He told us that Delta is very short on pilots and any glitch, call-out, or missed connection has a cascading effect across the entire airline.
Nope, talked with a rep via text who said they had nothing into the wider NYC area that would get me in by the same time as my original flight.
Any chance you can DM me your WheelsUp expense account number? If I hustle they could get me into Westchester in time for my afternoon round
I’ll preface this by saying I’m a show up on the cutoff kind of traveler.
Flying to Canada Sunday on AA, flight leaves at 7a and goes Cbus-Chicago-Vancouver.
The check in cut off is 45 minutes domestic and 90 international BUT my connection is domestic.
So can I head into the terminal at 6:10 or 5:25?
That rule is based on initial check in. Check in online and you can show up to the airport whenever you want (but if checking bags, 45 minutes is the cut off to ensure bags are properly screened and boarded). They will verify your passport when you arrive at CMH.
You should be able to check in online for all legs of the flight so long as you are vaccinated.
Thanks @dgolfman62281
Did the ArriveCAN stuff this morning for vax docs.
