Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Fellow “registered companion” here who has few direct flights out of AGS on her brother’s airline and always is connecting…I’ve yet to check a bag; but my brother has taken his clubs with him several times and has yet to have a problem. Always a long shot when flying non-rev and I am a psycho when it comes to checking that standby list and always having back up plans. Smart to leave several days early just to give you some time…But I would make sure you have a AirTag with your clubs just in case something happens  Good Luck!

The infrastructure around DTW causing some issues today. That area got about 5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours with more expected today.

From what I remember about my one experience flying into DTW, the airport sits very low compared to the rest of the area. The roads seemed to dip down in order to access the terminal complex. Can’t say I’m surprised the airport is prone to flooding in heavy rains.

Is this the place to share shitty airport and airline stories?

Last week I traveled to Denver to play in Fried Egg Golf’s event at CommonGround (fantatic golf course, besides the point), and we flew Frontier. My girlfriend and I have been to Denver three times this year to visit friends living there, flown Frontier each time, and haven’t had an issue yet. This time there were issues. Saturday night we get an email from Frontier saying that our direct flight home Sunday afternoon had been changed to include a 22(!!!) hour layover in Las Vegas. We would be getting home almost a full 24 hours after we had orgininally planned. Not only that, but, as I am sure you all know, there was a Hurricane making landfall on Sunday, and Las Vegas was flooding. There was no way our new flight was going to make it Vegas, given the weather. Why would an airline reschedule a flight to a destination they know is going to have massive weather issues?

The happy ending is that we rescheduled with United, got home on time, and were only out of pocket like $600 for the fiasco. Never again, Frontier.

Heading to Europe in a few weeks. Landing at Heathrow at 6:55a with a connecting flight at 8:35a on British Airways with the next flight being within Europe.

How screwed am I? We’re specifically not checking bags due to connection times but does anyone have any experience with a tight layover at Heathrow?

I think I see the problem.

Haven’t had a problem yet, and they are the most convenient airline for getting to Denver. Like I said, never again.

Just saw this same plane (N632NK) this morning at MCO.

I’m becoming a fan of the Spirit Big Front Seat. And Srixon Z-Stars. And Hideki’s Orlando home course. :flushed: Is Hideki advertising working on me?

I’m going to assume both your arrival and dept will be out of T5. The main building itself is fairly compact, but there is an extra 2 piers of gates that is connected by underground train. Side note - that extra pier sees some of the longest jetways I’ve ever seen. Like most places in Europe, there are separate lines for people who are connecting vs people staying in the UK. 90 mins at face value should be sufficient since you don’t have to change terminals, but LHR is very easily prone to holding, and 15-20 mins of holding is not unusual for that place (one of the busiest 2 runway airports in the world). Gonna come down to favorable enroute winds and good destination weather to determine how tight it will be, but you have a puncher’s chance of making your connection.

Looking at Flightaware it appears that my connecting flight is leaving from the “A” gates regularly. Also I’ll be coming off of an A380 so we’ll definitely have to hustle. Thanks for the response!

Shouldn’t be a problem at all. T5 is generally really easy and good. You’ll probably land at either B/C and leave from A depending on where in Europe. Never been a problem for me before with that connection time. As an aside, the easiest/fastest way up from the train in either b or c is the elevator. Always follow the flight crew. They know the deal.

Hearing some encouraging rumors about Delta severely limiting lounge access in 2024. You truly love to see it.

Pretty much all the highways in Detroit are below grade. Lots of flood prone stretches.

Cody you are way too nice. Why are you even talking to Tom after his failed scamming.

As Minnesota’s “America’s Guest”, @MerchCzar story of getting body blocked by the locker room attendant at National was all too relatable.

Reminds me of when I pulled into a club here and my future caddy jumped out of the bushes to meet me at my car and immediately took my shoes and clubs inside to be cleaned because they didn’t trust what type of grass they had seen. All time moment in my golf career of feeling like a schwaldo.

Shoutout to @soly’s hitters at AA for a wonderful first class experience from TPA to DFW.

Survived my 2nd journey with Spirit this weekend, MCO-EWR round trip. Cost with a carry-on and the Big Front Seat was comparable to the usual suspects for standard economy. Had a 1-hour delay and a bunch of families going to Disney on the return, but that would’ve happened on any airline. (Wasn’t expecting the applauded landing though. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:)

The Big Front Seat encapsulates me as a air-travel consumer: I want a wider seat with my own armrests and to de-plane quickly, but don’t need fancy food or beverage options or other first class offerings. I’m only aware of Spirit and Breeze using this model, but as other budget airlines update their fleets I hope others will incorporate it.

Jet Blue is somewhat similar with extra space seats. All in front and a no brainer.

As a short and wide man, the extra legroom is not as high on the priority list as the width. The Spirit Big Front Seat and Breeze Nicest seat are true domestic first class seats without the first class service.

Count me as a +1 behind @RealChili regarding Allegiant. If I have to return home again in the remaining 7 months here in Nashville, I’ll be taking that flight. I ponied up for the exit row, which I won’t do again because the flight was so short (58min) & maybe 1/2 full. Only negative was the paper thin padding on the seats. Any flight over 2 hours is a no-go.

PS - got hit with the @MerchCzar 1/10 BoneZone by SW returning home last night. Inbound flight was delayed 30 minutes + an additional hour once it landed for mechanical issues
