Hilton Head area/Secession + Pinehurst area? Now we’re playing courses I’ve played. I’m gonna love this.
I want to see some of these celebrations from @MerchCzar:
Tot Hill is the same as Tobacco Road in my opinion. Knowing where to hit and ignoring the deception is the battle.
The difference is that at TR, you can generally find your ball. Tot Hill not so much. Also the rocks and the fun bounces they give.
Is tot hill considered fun? Is it also $200?
Tot Hill Farm is fun as hell and costs $50 MAX. Often $25-$35.
PS - I think Tobacco Road tops out around $125, and I know it can be played for much less.
It doesn’t sound fun but I’m willing to let a lot more slide at $25
Tobacco Road is topping out at $189 these days (well, April)
Yeesh. OK. I love the place, but that is steep.
The players card is the ticket is you’re going to play more than once a year, one “free” round (basically the price of the card) then about half price for all other rounds that year (booking only 5 days out is the real drawback).
Weatherspark is one of the best websites of all time. I love the compare feature.
Yes at $125 I think it’s fine. At the $189 it seemed like I was paying for torture. But the company was great. @alexshreff @swade.
And I did get a birdie
That’s fair. I have about 20 rounds at Tot Hill vs 2 at Tobacco Road so I look at them through different lenses.
Tot Hill Farm is an awesome course, but doesn’t drain very well, so it can get very dicey in winter/spring.
There is just so much risk/reward on both of those courses. It is rare to just hit a ball straight down the middle without having to consider how much trouble you are challenging.
There are 2 stranz courses in southern VA. StoneHouse and Royal New Kent. You shoot a million at each because they are so hard, any ball off the fairway is gone/tough to find. They are really cool courses, not walkable in the least bit, but there are a ton of fun shots. Wouldn’t go play again but I’m glad i played them before playing tobacco road. He basically has his own templates which is pretty cool to think about
Strantz is right up your alley my dude. Hit it on the right part of the fairway and the right part of the green and you’re good.
I don’t think anyone used this gif yet, so I’m contractually obligated to do so.
I just moved from Greenville to Wilmington and I live within two minutes of the muni and I’m pretty pumped to watch them play out there. That place cranks out rounds, and I’ve looped it a couple times. It’s a ton of fun, and they can’t run the rounds fast enough.
I love the Carolinas, so this season is gonna be awesome!
I always get my TR rounds in as golf packages with overnight stays (Days Inn, Springhill Suites, etc.) so it feels more acceptable because I’m paying for a package that is cheaper than the Pinehurst Resort and getting golf at Tobacco Road and other nearby courses (like Dormie).
This x100. If you go through TR Travel they are extremely helpful and can design what you want. We’ve always had great experiences with them.
