I’ve been to it three times. Was absolutely cackling at that part of the episode. It’s such a cool museum.
I guarantee watching Tourist Sauce would not be the first time your kid heard a curse word
I generally don’t listen to the pods with them, but I’ll watch the videos. My kids are getting older, so it’s less of a big deal. And we have an understanding that it’s not a big deal but if we treat it as a big deal, that means they aren’t old enough/mature enough to keep watching. But we also mention that I don’t want to hear it repeated. Or get a phone call from school because it was repeated.

That par 5 13th at Bro Hogg Slott looks eerily similar to number 2 at Marshes in Ottawa, which RTJ and RTJ Jr. designed in the 2002. My golf experience is definitely more limited than most on the refuge, but I think there are many examples of long par 5s that dogleg around a body of water.
I think the NLU guys may have compared it to Bay Hill? The Strantz template also comes to mind.
Anyone else looking forward to the Fried Egg/Tourist Sauce double feature tonight?
First episode in the Fried Egg’s Teaching the Turf in the Sand Hills series tonight at 8 p.m. ET, right before Tourist Sauce episode 3. Gonna be a good night for golf content.
I’m interested to watch it but I’m not sure it’s going to share anything new. “Sandy soil drains well and creates firm conditions. The wind blows sand out of the bunkers. Winters are hard.” That’s kind of the pessimist in me since a lot of TFE content is getting repetitive. But I’ll still give it a watch and hope for the best.
I think it may be more of a ‘day in the life of a greenskeeper at two of the greatest courses in the world’ vibe. Could be wrong. Andy said in an interview over the summer that if he could sent a superintendent/architect to any course to learn how to take care of and build a golf course, it would be Sand Hills. I’m hoping the content reflects that.
Worst case scenario, I am going to get ~30 minutes of beauty shots at Sand Hills, and I down for that too.
Worth watching for me simply for the fantastic drone work and the images of courses I cannot see.
I really like Andy but I don’t love a lot of their content. The course design stuff I find incredibly boring.
Guis, I still contend that the shot from the bunker was the best shot I hit the entire season, maybe this entire year. The wind was just heavier than expected. I dropped and hit a three wood and flushed it and it got to the front of the green. Was also trying to bail out a bit to the left with the first one so the cover would’ve only been 190ish. The layup was very unappetizing.
In any case, an absolute BANGER of an ep on tap tonight. One of my faves we’ve ever done. It’s got it all!
Get ready to strap in for a great one tonight. Australian bunkers, cypress-style trees, charm - Visby has it all.
cant wait to see Alex on it, hes the best. One of the nicest people i know and glad Soly and him can bury the manipulator hatchet!
I used to like it more but there’s only so much you can gather without actually going to place. And it get very old talking about how much shape is in a green or how great the bunkers are. If I’m not actually there, then just show me some pictures.
I actually think the Golf Digest “Every Hole At…” series is really good for that purpose.
Sand Hills is only open for 120 days per year
the superintendent has to deal with very unique things there
learning about some extremes there
