Crail is a fantastic course, I’m lucky my club has a reciprocal there which we get on for £15 ,i could sit in that clubhouse all day watching the world go bye.
Maisha’s was great choice the food in there is superb as are the staff we’ve been going there for years, i’m lucky its only 20 mins away in the car .
If you were to go in October you could get very good mileage at courses in Ayrshire and Arran with potential to play some nice in-land courses in and around Glasgow if it wasn’t too wet.
Wow Elie looks good. Would Elie be a good name for a son or daughter? I think I’ll bring it up to my wife without telling her it’s the name of a golf course.
Can we call in the Elie Standards Committee to review the footage of Mustard Legs (@djpie) pushing his cart down 12? That was way too close to the 11 green surface for my liking.
Having been there last year, watching you guys play there is legitimately giving mee goose bumps. I love the way Elie forces you to think about the ground game; there are so many hollows and ridges to take in to account. The pub left of the 4th is awesome as well. I met some great people on and around that course.
My only (mild) criticism was the fee. I think I paid about £ 95,-, which is a bit steep in my opinion. Also, it was a wrong decision to build houses left of 4 about 250 out. Slice central. R.I.P. Cat on the roof.
This episode was filled with hidden gems, perhaps none more gem-like than @Randy’s utter frustration and disappointment with the functionality of the water fountain while filling up his bottle. Great work as always.
Ignorant UK person question…do you not have water fountains like this in the US?
It’s one of the mainstay features of so many UK courses. The long wait to fill your bottle and then the inevitable soaking you get as you wait (always remember to take your glove off or use your non-gloved hand!)
I’ve seen them around a bunch of courses in the US. Some will have a very sensitive handle so you either get a small dribble or get splashed in the face.
More common I think are the water coolers that are housed in an enlarged birdhouse type structure, with the white cone-shaped cups that basically hold two sips worth.
This is what I see here also. And in Arizona the water is either brain-freeze cold or has been sitting in the cooler for a couple days and is stale and roughly the temperature of bathwater.
