To whom it may concern:

In regards to the scheduling of the Walk in the Park, I’ve had an epiphany, and wanted to reach out for public comment on a potential change.

Somehow, I completely missed the fact that the Kroger Queen City LPGA tournament is taking place September 19th - 22nd, the weekend prior to when we have scheduled the Walk in the Park. In order to maximize our potential for fun, I had the idea to move the event forward a week, to coincide with the Kroger LPGA tournament.

So, in fullness of clarity, we’d be playing on Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st, instead of the 27th & 28th, as previously planned.

But, of course, I don’t want to make this change without consulting all of you, especially those individuals who have signed up already. Please let me know what you think!

I don’t follow the thought process tbh. Either weekend would work for me. I don’t think I have any scheduling conflicts regardless.

I was just thinking it would provide an easier opportunity for some guys to play in our event and also check out the LPGA tournament on Thursday or Sunday, especially if they’re coming in from out of town.

If it overcomplicates things, maybe it’s just a change we think about making in future years. I’m not partial either way, I just thought it might add a little extra something to the overall experience. I’m leaving it up to you guys, though - again, this is my first time running a tournament like this, so if you think I’m doing something stupid or wrong, please call me out on it.

Oh gotchu. I don’t know where people are coming from. Either works for me. I’m glad they found a location for the event.

I am good with either weekend

Where did you end up on the date? I was about to sign up, but then saw the discussion of potentially moving the date up to the weekend before.

Sorry, I didn’t realize I had never clarified! For anyone else who might be wondering also:

We will stick with the same dates as originally planned (Friday 9/27 & Saturday 9/28, the weekend AFTER the Kroger LPGA).

In future years, I’d love to see if we can make the two events coincide, and maintain some sort of tradition of having a Cincy-area Refuge event the same weekend as the LPGA is in town.

For now, though, I’m looking forward to a couple back-to-back 36-hole days with some sickos and some half sets in late September!

Unfortunately I have to drop out of this one. A friend is reviving his Oktoberfest party and after weighing my options I’m gonna stay local. Hopefully this one is around next year because I am very intrigued by it. Good luck men.

No worries at all! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe you had paid the entry fee? Just want to make sure I get you a refund if necessary.

In either case, this means there are five spots now available.

36 holes. Two days. Seven clubs.

September 27th & 28th - who else is crazy enough to join us?

Yeah I hadn’t paid yet because this was looming.

There are still 5 spots remaining for the Walk in the Park!!!

Our registration deadline is fast approaching - just under three weeks out! We’ve currently got 7 players, so if you’re sitting on the fence, get signed up!

If it helps, here’s a sneak peek at our trophy (and my cat, for good measure):

Everyone will go home with an event poster, a bag of beans from Good Walk (felt like it was appropriate), lots of good memories, and probably sore feet.

If you need a reminder of the pertinent information:

  • Potter’s Park Golf Course in Hamilton, OH - quirky, cool, underrated old muni.
  • 72 holes across two days (Friday, 9/27 and Saturday, 9/28; tee times at 9am and 2pm each day).
  • Walking only, half-sets only.
  • $200 registration covers 4 rounds of golf, tee gifts & prizes, and a $32/player donation to the Hamilton Community Foundation’s “Friends of the Parks” fund.
  • Prizes for Net & Gross champions.

Please reach out if you have any questions! #getinvolved

I played a half set last Friday at potters. I forgot how fun that course is.

Do you need us to sign up via UKG or pay you directly?

Push carts okay? Forbidden? Frowned upon?

Encouraged.

I will be using a push cart.

Strongly. As long as your primary mode of transportation is feet and not a gas pedal, it works for me :+1:

Is Potters flat? I don’t like Badin so I never go over there.
