Now we are talking
Alley is must do.
-Aiken local
Arm twisted.
Probably an important note for everyone coming this way: Aiken City Council voted last week to extend our mask ordinance through mid-November. Essentially, face coverings are required in local restaurants and businesses within city limits. For bars and restaurants, you just have to have your mask/whatever on until youâre seated indoors. Put it back on to get up to go to the restroom, etc. Itâs obviously not necessary outside.
I know everyoneâs got different rules and regulations for that sort of thing, so thatâs what you can expect in Aiken.
Also, for the out-of-staters, bars canât serve after 11 p.m. I donât know when/if the governor will readdress that one, but weâve got until 11 to order a drink in SC.
Adding to this, restaurants can Not have no more than 8 people to a table unless they are related.
SC Governor executive orders are valid for up to 15 days. We will know on the 24th if the alcohol rules stands.
Also worth noting that the SC emergency declaration specifically addresses restrictions on gatherings and also states masks must be worn in these gatherings. The definition of a gathering is up for interpretation (XO gives specific authority to the department of commerce and not law enforcement, but local orders could) so itâs possible this event could defined as such.
But curbside alcohol delivery is legal right now so itâs not all bad.
Iâm in!
Thatâs for the regulations updates, very helpful.
Whatâs the Alley and how do I go about drinking there?
Google Aiken Brewing Company. It is located at the western end of The Alley. Once you are in The Alley, you are free to walk around with beer or wine purchased from restaurants in The Alley. Besides Aiken Brewing, there is Tailgate Tavern, Whiskey Alley [my personal Alley favorite], Mellow Mushroom, The Alley Taproom [only serves beer and wine], and TakoSushi [2nd favorite]. With no Coronavirus, The Alley is usually bustling. Enjoy your time in The Alley!
Whatâs the Uber scene in Aiken? I think I can walkâŚstumble to the Airbnb but just in case.
I checked last week and itâs seems Uber and Lyft both operate in Aiken.
If there are no Uber/Lyft available (sometimes you have to get lucky and catch one thatâs coming back from Augusta or something), Aiken Taxi always has at least a couple of drivers posted up at the entrance to the alley.
Friendly reminder to everyone.
There will be 5 NIT spots available during the morning portion of the event. Top 5 point players will receive invites to the NIT If you are a Nest member. If you are not a nest member you can join on the spot to receive your invite.
The NIT is November 6th and 7th at Jax Beach Golf Club.
PLEASE PUT YOUR GHIN NUMBER ON THE GOOGLE SHEET.
You will have to have a verifiable GHIN or equivalent to qualify in quota game.
straight quota game? is there an official hdcp cut off date?
Straight quota.
Honestly I havenât gotten that far re: cut off.
got it. so winners are most points relative to their quota? and no worries about cut off. might be a question of elibility if someone doesnât have something official.
You will have to have an official GHIN or equivalent to qualify. Not a âI usually shoot 87â
Most points from their handicap, yes.
While the NIT spots are cool they are not the main point of the event. Those that donât have an official handicap are still welcome itâs all about having some fun with fellow sickos.
Please replace your index with your GHIN # on the spread sheet.
Done.
Maybe Silly question. Whatâs dress code flexibility at Aiken.
Collars required? NLU athletic long sleeve in play?
If you were a walk-in on a Saturday afternoon? Collar required.
An event like this may be a different story since the course is ours all day. We wonât have to get past a bouncer, so to speak, but it could be an ask ahead type of deal. Iâm sure youâll be fine, though, as long as you donât show up dressed like Rockinâ Rollen Stewart.
updated! Thanks for everything @LukeBoatright!!!
Also, could I remove myself from the NIT qualification? (No hard feelings against the NIT, wouldnt be able to make it anyhow)
