That is much too far north.
I was playing in some podunk area. And I was 12 so I don’t remember it. But I was visiting my grandparents who are corn and soybean farmers in southern IL.
Only played two courses and both were due to being on the college golf team. Soangataha in Galesburg and Aldeen in Rockford, nothing amazing to be sure but not bad either.
Having never experienced Wisconsin golf before, just watched a video on the links at lawsonia and the woodlands. This place looks delightful, though I foresee my ass needing to bring a good supply of golf balls!

Woodlands maybe more so than links, depending on your miss. But both are quite playable.

My miss is everywhere. I’m a man of the people. Far more concerned with woodlands just on the brief viewing, wooded areas are like magnets.

The woodlands are more open than some of those videos make it appear. There’s certainly plenty of wooded areas, but there’s also a decent number of them that can be played out of.

Links wasn’t that hard with the tall fescue grass cut down short like it was for the 2023 Ope-n.
Having said that, I make no promises about the status of the fescue this July.

Had a great conversation with a fellow Packer fan who happened to sit at the table next to me at the airport bar. He sat row four for the Bears game to clinch the playoffs. Got his ticket for $110. Wild.

Packer thread for now but not looking to make enemies long term. This is too wild and diverse a community to pick sides in anything. Except the Barstool Bros who slowed down Ope-N 2023 they can get fucked like the Dallas Cowboys
