I have to say the bar at Heidel House went up in the rankings in my book simply because they still have food available later in the night…even with a limited menu it’s better than no menu.

I liked the Heidel House for food served later, space, a nice outdoor area for socializing, and having stayed there it was an easy retreat to my room.
I liked the Goose Blind for the party scene.
At my age, the Heidel House is more my speed but the Goose Blind is fine if that’s where everyone wants to meet.
The quiet outdoor porch at Goose Blind was the best.
Making me tear up at 815am over here @AlCzervik.
Table looks like it was once upon a time a good one that rolled true but has since fell into slight disarray, felt and bumpers need redone. Cue looks like it has those screw on ferrules. Fucking terrible, always try to find a cue that doesn’t have those. If not possible, just look for the one with the best dime shaped tip on it.
Homeboy’s bridge hand needs work, just a bit too far for the shot being played. 7 doesn’t go by the 15 so need to get short side shape ASAP. I would have started with the 6 first, rolling to the first diamond by the corner pocket. Take the 7, get back to the middle of the other 4 balls. Ideal run out is 3 in the top right corner, come off the rail so you get a straight to slight angle towards the rail on the 1 into the same pocket as the 7, get as straight as you can for the 5 into the same top right corner for a stop shot on the 2, if cueball is on the rail and can’t do a stop shot, just roll forward off the rail to get perfect on the 8.

Pretty much
Pull tabs are the best.
Billiards, fin.
In case anybody was wondering, this is what LCP looks like on the golf course too.
Can’t deny your analysis of the table, there were definitely some spots where the felt was pilling.
During that game, the GM comes over and tells our opponents “time to go”. Turns out our opponents were at the bar with their dads and got in because their dad’s knew the GM… they’re home from freshman year of college. The group does a toast, “bros before hos” and off they go. So much for any pride in taking the table over from them
My friend and I played for a couple more hours after that; could have kept going.
Also, hard to be too mad at the bar because they carried Bruichladdich
The Laddie has been on my short list for a while now, just haven’t gone looking.
Apologies for the terrible drawing, but here’s a setup from last night that we spent 10 minutes going through. 3 and 4 up top, 5 and 7 bottom right. 8 ball lower left with 15 by it. Cue is the silver in the middle.
I argued to go 3 top left corner, 4 top left corner then same to 5 and 7 in bottom right corner. Depending on the leave, bank the 8 off the bumper and go cross pocket. He went for the 5 first into the bottom right corner and missed
We both agreed that someone better than us might have a better idea
Haha world class drawing. Better to use chalky pad.
Dependent on how confident you are at running out but I’m using the 7 to break out the 8, either going straight into it or going behind and bumping it up table. Should still leave a shot on either the 3 or 4 (assuming both go into the corner pocket there), leaving the 5 as your last ball to get good shape on the 8. Not confident, bumping the 5 closer to the corner, leave the cue ball behind the 7 and force them to 2 rail kick.
Spoiler: they’ll fuck up and give you ball in hand.
Run out, wave to the crowd, talk some shit, and ask loudly “who’s my next victim?”.

Me as a terrible billiards player who is desperate to improve at all and beat his friends in future games who are also terrible
Best advice I give most people is hit much softer than you think (we call it pocket speed, similar to just past the hole when putting) and try to follow the path the cue ball naturally wants to go.
Bit of cheeky / smart ass comment, but would love to see the real thing at Ope 2024. I’ll play you for a beer and would love to know now what type of beer you prefer. Also to be fair more of a darts guy
Just like seeing greatness when it’s in front of me
Also for our new Indiana friends, proud IU grad who worked for the Hoosiers athletic department (long story prior career) here along with my wife. We IU or Purdue people in this chat?
I, too, would enjoy being ritually sacrificed by @papateeps at Op3
I gotta get off the wait-list first! Coughcoughsponsorexemptioncoughcough
