Wisconsin folks, I don’t think we claim to have invented the old fashioned? We just drink a shit load of them and at some point started using brandy (I have no idea why). My point is, it’s not a matter of brandy being real or fake or not an actual old fashioned. It just is maaaaaaaaan and nobody here cares. Drink it with vodka if you want.
Hell, order a pizza even though their is a delish all you can eat broasted chicken and fish fry option. The fine folks of Wisconsin just want to hang, golf, eat friend food, get drunk, and fend off/welcome the townies.

It’s not the brandy part everyone else disagrees with it’s the putting sweet or sour soda everyone despises it seems

Alright now I’m getting skeptical, a religious order sent “tens of thousands of cases” here.

Yeah, the soda is a tough scene. I was at a nice italian restaurant here in STL recently and ordered an old fashioned and they put soda in it.
It got sent back.

Don’t have these problems if you just order Moon Man and Spotted Cow. Yeah, I said it.

Younger justmuckit would have done exactly that.
Older justmuckit gets heavily congested even thinking about IPA’s and Pale Ales.

There’s a Lewis Black bit that is very similar to this.
Haven’t seen it, promise!
Fair. If I could drink liquor more that would probably be bad. Never got the taste for it.
My drinking years have basically been broken up in thirds.
First third: Beer, mostly IPA’s
Second third: Beer, exclusively stouts and porters
Final third: Whiskey

Those nuns were probably checking up on the brandy consumption. @MidwestHack you’re on a list somewhere.

Proud Wisconsinite who has a massive Wisconsin flag in his man cave, I can only handle one or two Wisconsin Old Fashionds before I switch to something else. Very sweet but a proud WI tradition. Also don’t mind my bio description that’s for an event we run in Wisconsin there are better cocktails than old fashionds
Big Gin and Tonic guy but yes that’s a good option too. Having a Manhattan on a rooftop bar in Manhattan is a next level cocktail IMO
