The Cornstalk 2025 @ Landmand GC (Homer, NE) - May 31-Jun 1, 2025

I’ve read that it’s not a walking course at all. I’m never too proud to jump in a cart :joy:

“A walking course” is definitely not it’s strength.

It’s not not a walking course. It’s largely green to tee. It’s just a very demanding walk. When the wind gets up and/or it’s hot… Very, very demanding

This gets to the heart of the question. How long are some of the green to tee walks? 16->17 pain in the ass. 13->14 not great.

Some of the green to tee walks can take up to 5 minutes due to the down, over, around, and up.

Seemed like most groups were average 5:15 rounds. I bet 30-45 minutes of that is the green to tee transitions.

Honestly I didn’t feel like green to tee walks are horrible out there. You nailed the 2 worst, 4-5 isn’t great either.
1-2 is right there, 2-3 is down the hill just a smidge, 3-4 right up the hill, 4-5 kinda ass, 5-6 right down the hill, but the green is huge, 6-7 a little long, 7-8 up the hill, 8-9 right there, 9-10 right there, 10-11 up a little bit, 11-12 right there through he bunker, 12-13 right there, 13-14 ass, 14-15 just round the bunker, 15-16 right there, 16-17 ass, 17-18 right there.

It’s the up and down between the tee to green that takes the mostz especially the up. Up to 1 green, up to 4 green, up 6, up 7, up 10, up 11 fairway, way down and way up 13, up to 15, up to 16, up to 17, up to 18

Beating the dead horse, I bet the tee to green transitions averaged between 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Multiply by 18 and you get somewhere between 27 and 36 minutes.

Yep. Then factor that it’s a 6-8 mile walk depending how poorly you’re hitting it and you get a long round of golf.

Because I had some time on my hands this afternoon, we’ll have a little fun with Google Earth on green to tee transitions. I tried to take the “usual” route as much as I could.

16-17 up the stairs, then more stairs, and up to the tee box: 267 feet, 30 feet of elevation gain.

13-14 up the cart path the whole way. I was always left on that hole so I never ventured up that right path: 633 feet, 6 feet net gain along that line.

6-7 again along the cart path: 490 feet, 30 feet net gain elevation

I can do some more but I didn’t want to beat a dead horse. I was just curious about actual numbers. I’m just proud of myself for finishing it

So THATS how it ended up a 10 mile walk. Makes sense.

This would have been a horrible course to play Army golf on.

Right, left, Right, left.

God forbid. At least I mainly sucked on one side of the fairways.

The walking path to the back right of 13 green saved my ass D2 out there.

I’ve beaten this horse so many times, poor horse

The real issue isn’t green to tee, it’s tee to fairway, not having walking paths cut is a tougggghhh scene, if your a true tick infested sicko like myself you can walk
Through the high weeds and find 2 prov1s but man that’s the issue

Also, I hear the people mentioning benches

Weren’t the tee times every 20 minutes last year? Never needed benches because you were never waiting, totally different feel having tighter tee times (or I just fully imagined this in my dreams)

So the plan for this is that I’m going to bring it around from event to event and get everyone to sign it that wants to.

They were 20 normally. I think they crammed us all in and still had some outside tee times so they had us tighter. Was 20 minute intervals a few weeks ago
