Is there anything between DIA and Bayside worth playing? Maybe could hope to get a dew sweep at Common ground then drive to Bayside for a twilight…
What if you did a couple of the 9 holes up by Sand Hills? Mullen and Pelican Beach?
I won’t get the chance to do this but within a couple hours of Wild Horse there are two wild 9 hole courses that I badly want to hit up.
Augusta Winds is a 9 hole course in Stapleton, NE. 9 hole walking is roughly $12 at last update (they don’t exactly have a website) This course was brought to my attention by The Fried Egg.
There are some unbelievable views here.
“Nearby” is Pelican Beach in the same vein as Augusta Winds. $12 for all day play walking here.
I’ve had dreams of driving out to Pelican Beach on a whim, playing all night, camping nearby. Then the next morning playing Augusta Winds and driving back to Des Moines. I’ve talked about it with @jwhowles more than once but just can’t pull the trigger on this trip.

I imagine golden hour at Pelican Beach would be incredible. The course is awesome and so is driving through the Sandhills. You see golf holes everywhere you look.

I think it’s hole 6 and if I remember correctly it’s about a 250 yard par 4. One of my favorite holes out there.

I just talked to a kid that lost a ball in the fairway at Awarii last week because the mowers are on the fritz. Awarii going downhill sucks. It was so fun. Otherwise you are all set with others i80 adjacent suggestions.
If you’re on the northern highways thru Valentine, Frederick Peak is my favorite course in NE.

It’s a lot more driving but you could do WH Thursday then drive to Omaha or SC for the night, then do Landsmeer for Friday AM and join us at The Ridge Friday PM
