The most interesting line in the article was: “The sixteenth, which Clouser calls, “the feature hole in the original design,” was known as ‘Big Boy’ – a long par four over excellent terrain with strategic interest. It was abandoned and today exists as a thoroughfare between the new sixth and the aforementioned lousy seventh.” Do you think the green complex was where the current landing is for #7 given that’s around the corner of the tee box for the original #2?

I know exactly where everything is hah. I love the old 1/18 TOC homage the most. I have to go to Ames for work Monday. Maybe Ill drop by their old spots.

I am not into architecture, but this type of “geographical history” really intrigues me & I would totally go on your guided tour of the original holes!

Where’s the Swilcan Bridge, or would it be the Story or Stange Bridge?

There was a trail.

:flushed: Very cool!

Three months, exactly 90 days until we descend on Des Moines, Ames, and the Iowa State Fair. Can’t wait to see everyone roll in.

Is this the ideal t-shirt to wear to the Iowa State Fair? Who can say?
