Roost Merch Megathread - Conscious Capitalism Celebrated

Well in Ohio we have the best fucking bag tag maker there is. And stickers and tees.

how long until we’ve got @MondayQInfo covering their events?

Edit: damnit, could you imagine his write up of the 2022 Roost Regional dust up?!

All The Peachtree Collective needs to do is flaunt a sick merch game and operate a tri state match play, then the refuge will ignore their sign up/membership fees.

My two cents…

I think I can definitively say that I am the only person that has gained financially from the Roosts, and that’s primarily because it spurred me to create a business that now profits outside of the NLU sphere. @leftysauce is a big big part of what Buckeye Tags has become and I’m thrilled to work with them on a regular basis.

I think anyone that’s ever put on an event knows that these captains aren’t doing this to profit, and actually organizing a bunch of internet idiots to play golf is actually a pretty time consuming and often expensive endeavor. If a group of dudes decides it’s worth a few bucks to have a little extra organization and some merch that’s cool. If you don’t want that then nobody is forcing you to pay, there are a million free ways to get together too.

Long story short. Thank you for your support. If you find value in paying a few bucks to organize then cool, if you’d prefer a more ad hoc approach also cool.

The merch is dope. And the idea of having a full slate of organized events is cool. We have less of that in Ohio, but organically you can get out with fellow Roost members weekly. And our match play has improved each year. Our match play finals have been held at two of the best private courses in the state. All of this without anyone paying more than their guest fee and a small donation/entry fee.

I’m fine with a roost charging for a premium membership or something. And I have absolutely no impression anyone is profiting off of it. But, where you lose me is at the idea I have to be a paying roost member to play in an event to earn an NIT spot. I already pay to be in the Nest, plus whatever my entry fee is for that event. I would think that the NIT qualifiers are available first to paying members. But, you shouldn’t have to pay an additional fee to be able to qualify for NLU’s signature event when you’re already paying NLU to be in the Nest.

PS. The RACDG stickers arrived and they are rad. Many thanks!

I was personally so humbled to see so many folks from across the country and different roosts make the trip to Park Mammoth for The Extinction, so I’ll say I would hate to see that element lost from these Roost majors.

As much as I may have wanted an HCC guy to get the spot (gotta root for your guys, right?), it’s just as rewarding to be able to send someone from another roost (s/o @Tibbs)

I will forever be regretting my hand ending up in a cookie jar to fall back into a tie with @Tibbs and a fellow HCC member. Tibbs had a great rebound from the morning round to claim the NIT spot though!
