Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

Is neither an option and go play somewhere, you know, good?

Agreed - like not Kohler…

Wait $400 and $500 for those courses? Do they give you ownership in Kohler too?

No but you get a free hot dog or brat at the turn now

What a bargain!

Oh! Well in that case, it’s underpriced.

A real hot dog too, not a disgraceful Landmand hot dog.

For $500 it better be the best damned hot dog I’ve ever eaten and I’m certain that’s not going to be the case.

And then still just take your money and go play Erin Hills (and get chicken salad on pretzel bun), Sand Valley, Eagle Springs (10x), Spring Valley, etc.

I will say again, I don’t like that they are that high priced but they are and people (no clue who) continue to fill their tee sheets. Something, something, shrink the game, something.

They aren’t that full

I can’t comment on this year’s tee sheets, but they broke their record for most rounds played in a year last year. I hope you’re right that play is down maybe their rates will return to reasonable levels.

I suggested Irish.

Greetings from FL Wisconsin Crew. I’m coming up for a family golf vacation just after Labor Day, flying into Madison and home-basing at a timeshare in the Dells for 10 days. I appreciate any insights or suggestions you have for my current list or alternatives within a reasonable drive or the Dells. Here’s my current list of courses:

  1. Sand Valley & Mammoth Dunes (day trip)
  2. Lawsonia Links
  3. Wild Rock
  4. Northern Bay Resort
  5. Trapper’s Turn
  6. Coldwater Canyon

Options for another round (or replacement if something above is recommended against):

  1. Club @ Lac La Belle
  2. University Ridge
  3. Thal Acres
  4. White Lake
  5. Glen Erin

Just based on the course itself I’d add Lac La Belle without much hesitation, but is it worth almost a 2hr drive each way? Also, are the junior caddies going to be gone from SV after Labor Day?

Cheers!

These all qualify as ā€œit’s a golf courseā€ level so if you want close by stuff when you’re in the Dells, they will work.

My opinion? No. It’s not worth the money or time if you’re not already in the area.

This is about what I expected for those 3 - only one rack rate was over $70 and I’ll keep an eye online for discounts. Hoping I’ve chosen correctly by selecting these over Christmas Mountain, Reedsburg, or Baraboo.

I’m a bit surprised, this place looks sweet:

Maybe the greens are a little tricked up?
