What if I told you some people buy merch from a company that started as a Twitter account?
Some people think that’s pretty damn weird too.

I’m with @WIHacker here. This is akin to wearing a BirdiCorn hoodie or this Precision Pro hat (God awful). Great products, but I would never wear that.
I’ve gotten fit for my irons and my driver at club champion on the west side. Would recommend them and you can usually find a promo code out there for the fitting to be free with the purchase of a club.
I stand corrected I guess. Seems like there’s plenty of hunger out there for an athletic tape branded hoodie. Can’t wait to see one in the wild!
It’s all about building a brand not just a utilitarian product. See Liquid Death. See any craft brewery. The list could go on.
Howdy all, going up to play Lawsonia again with a couple buddies on 10/2. Was planning to play Mascoutin the day before but just found out they have a rescheduled outing that day…zero tee times available. Any other courses somewhat in the area to recommend? We’re driving up from Milwaukee so anything on the way would be fine too, though we’d rather play something we haven’t played before, or at least haven’t played often (so not Washington County or Whispering Springs, for example).
Anybody know anything about White Lake, Fox Lake, or Rolling Meadows? Anything else good around there?
I don’t know the area super well but can highly recommend Wild Rock if you want to buzz over to the Dells
I’ve played a WSGA qualifier at Rolling Meadows. Overall I’d say it’s just okay. There are some interesting greens, but by and large it’s your average area course.
Washington County got a lot of praise by those who played it prior to the Ope
Yeah, love Washington County but looking for something different since we’ve all played there plenty of times.
Note to self: Reading is a skill
Like math, reading can be hard.
Yo @midwestgolfbum , you spend a lot of time in the Green Lake area…any other courses nearby-ish worth playing other than Lawsonia and Mascoutin?
Tuscumbia is cool if you play with like 6 clubs and wear sandals.
Founded in 1896!
White lake is also fine as long as you’re okay with a little drive.
Did a little analysis of the Yahara renovation project
Tl;dr - The new course is basically just the West course with some small changes, mostly bunker removals (which is needed since there is actual vegetation growing in 80% of the bunkers). Definitely doesn’t excite me or anything, really feel like there is probably more you could do with the land but I’m not an architect. Basically I’m just hoping with 18 less holes they can keep the course in a little better shape.
New hole by hole
1- This is the current East hole 1. No changes.
2 - Current west 2, but will move tee boxes back to West 1 fairway to make it a par 5. Removing fairway bunkers but keeping the same fairway mowing lines. So should be a pretty straightforward par 5 with no real danger.
3 - Current East 2, making this into a long par 3. Will have two sets of tee boxes, 1 in current East 2 fairway, 1 that are the current West 3 tee boxes. Expanding fairway cut around green to encompass front bunker. I don’t remember there being much elevation change or the green being very interesting here so not much to it other than it being long
The rest of these hole all match the current West course holes, so I’ll just list changes and my comments for the rest of these
4 - Removing fairway bunker. That bunker wasn’t really doing anything. I actually like this hole currently, you can pull a wood/driver and try to cut off the dog leg to get closer to the green or be safe with an iron and lay up. So some actual options here which they are leaving intact
5 - No change, maybe shrinking greenside bunker
6 - Adding bunker to fairway short of green (maybe in layup area for this par 5). Maybe also adding some slope/runoff to the right side of the green
7 - No change
8 -
9 -
Kind of interesting one - shortening the hole a bit. Kind of wrapping the fairway more around the pond, making a centerline tree close to the green. But that tree should only get in the way if you take on the risk of water left on your drive. So I think the play is to just blast it right which is pretty open. Not totally sure what they’re going for here/if this will be an interesting or strategic hole
Also removing left greenside bunker.
10 - no change
11 - Removing fairway bunker, could make tee shot a bit easier, although don’t know if it was ever really in play
12 - Remove long left green bunker, expanding fairway to right of the green
13 - Shrinking bunkers a bit
14 - Removing short right bunker, maybe adding a slope/kicker/backstop long left of the green
15
Removing fairway bunker left, removing trees left and expanding fairway adding a mound feature to where the fairway bunker was. Currently, this is basically a forced layup hole since there isn’t an advantage to driver. Not sure what it’ll be like with the mound but may be one of the only holes that gets more interesting
16 - Slightly expanding green. back tees are old East 4 tees, could make that drive more interesting. Slightly expanding green.
17 - Removing long right bunker
18 - Lots of bunker changes - removing short left fairway bunker. Adding right fairway bunker. Removing two bunkers long right of green. Adding bunker short of green (maybe in layup area). Expanding fairway to right of the green and adding a mound feature. Hopefully they are trimming back the trees on the left side that block out literally 90% of the fairway and force a layup when you need a birdie to tie your lowest round ever and you pounded your drive into the right half of the fairway (hypothetically of course)
Fine folks of Wisconsin. Group of eight coming from Boston to visit Sand Valley. Because of a hurricane coming up the East Coast this week we are actually going to be flying out Saturday morning and spending one night in the beautiful city of Milwaukee before heading to Sand Valley Sunday morning. Would you all mind sharing your recommendations for places we visit in Milwaukee While there. Probably a lunch/hang spot, and then a dinner. Going to stay somewhere pretty close to the airport I would imagine.
If you’re going to stay in the airport area, would recommend The Packing House for dinner as a traditionalish blue collar supper club.
If you’re venturing out a little bit (10-15 miles/20-30 minute drive), you’ve got pretty much the whole city available. We could give you a lot better recommendations based on what you’re looking for (vibe/type of food/price points).
