Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

I played February 29th, 2000 in west central Wisconsin on a day that was about 70 degrees.

I think I’m missing December, more so by choice than anything else.

Taking my In-laws to the Packers / Hawks game at Lambeau on Saturday - First time in Green Bay, first time at Lambeau for all of us.

Where should we grab post-game dinner? Any must-stops we should check out?

Badger State Brewing is my favorite, but they don’t serve food. They’ll have at least one food truck on game day though. It’s usually where I park because it’s really easy in and out. The beer and outdoor area is fantastic and it’s relatively close to everything.

Hinterland Brewing, on the other side of the stadium also has good food and is closer to more of the action. In my opinion though their beer isn’t as good and their food is over priced.

As for post game food… anything around the stadium is going to have a limited game day menu and be packed.

What kind of food do you like?

Green Bay is a really small town, so it’s not too far to get away from the stadium area to find something a bit quieter.

Second going to Badger Brewing for tailgating.

Brickhouse Burgers in DePere
Parker Johns BBQ on Oneida St.
Hagemeister Park downtown GB.
None are more than 10 minutes from Lambeau.

The food around the stadium is pretty meh other than Krolls.

Maaaaaany hazy memories.

Fellow Wisconsinites, I and a couple friends are considering a little 2 day fall golf adventure in the Madison area in early October. We’ll for sure hit U Ridge, and one guy mentioned the House on the Rock course, so that’s a strong maybe. We’re looking for at least one more course closer to Madison since we’ll stay downtown. And we’re not playing the fucking Oaks. Even though I used to live in Madison, I haven’t played much golf there.

Suggestions for another course?

Pleasant view is probably my favorite besides u ridge in the Madison area - for 18 see if you can get on the prairie and woods 9s. Lakes is undergoing a bunch of construction and isn’t in the best shape.

Would also recommend getting out to the glen for a quick 9 - its a short course but some fun shots and greens out there. It’s the one Michael Keiser helped fund the renovation of

I second the Glen for some fun shots into those greens, it’s really a fun, quick 9 holes.

If you want close to downtown, Odana Hills is one of my fav muni’s I’ve ever played anywhere. Very strapped-esque and fun layout! I played there countless times as a student and would have the course to myself on football saturdays. Great memories there.

Avoid The Bridges at all costs!

Obviously URidge. LMK when you come over, I might be able to sneak out to join you.

Beyond that, Pleasant View has 27 holes, but I haven’t played it in years due to it seemingly always being packed. (And that it’s just… fine, not great.) Right now there’s a ton of construction going on near and on the course, so I’d probably point you away at this time.

The Glen is a great quick 9 as others have said. Nothing is going to knock your socks off (though the greens are fun), but they did a great job breathing some new life into that course.

Short of getting on one of the privates, I’d probably point you to The Meadows of Six Mile Creek before the Madison city courses.

It’s a little north of town, but Lake Windsor is a decent course too. The greens tend to be in pretty good shape. If you’re willing to make the trek, Edelweiss in New Glarus is great, and you could spend some time in NG which is a pretty charming little town.

There’s room for 2 more - come watch me drool over some L&M golf holes

I might even bring a Kringle to split…

Stopped in GB yesterday for lunch and had this post in mind. I had done Hinterland before and could be fine pregame. Was going to land at Badger State but wife called audible while I was driving.

Landed at Copper State due to many places understandably not open for Monday lunch, but was surprised they are closed on Sundays. Food was pretty good. Regarding Sunday, guess a good day to be with family, probably tough to weigh the gameday revenue those 9 or so Sundays vs dealing with the crowds.

Also shoutout to whoever, if on here, had on an NLU hat at Al Johnson’s on Saturday morning. I like many others was dealing with a fussy kid and didn’t give a proper nod in that chaotic place.

Anyone have club fitter recommendations? Preferably in the Madison area but could be convinced to travel

Been working hard on my swing the last couple years so want to see if my equipment is still right for me

Max Hoskings at Nevada Bob’s is good. All indoors but still very good.

@chrisisoutrunning has done some work for us on some merch options. Details below:

Looking to gauge to interest in a Jones Ranger bag like that. Cost would depend on the final number ordered. Base price is $60, embroidery adds $7.50, and then it’s $100 setup fee for the embroidery which would be split across the order (should we go forward).

The Grand was my home course for an interesting period in my life!

Honest question - what do people generally use these bags for? I see a lot of people use them as a drinks bag, but I don’t personally love that idea. Is there anything else?

Either way, it’s pretty awesome stuff so I’m in for at least 1.
