Thanks @Pendo23 and i see he joined already but I’m going to share again so if anyone else happens to hop in.
New Nest Member from Buffalo. Have played numerous Rochester/Buffalo through the years from local district events and college tourneys. Glad to join!
If you aren’t joined in our whatsapp yet follow the link.
Also. If you are not signed up on this sheet please do! We need this updated for when we apply for a roost again this year! There’s no commitment just need to see who’s interested.
I was looking back at the Rochester area public courses I played the last two seasons, and trying to come up with my Top 5. The Top 3 seem obvious, but the next 2 were more difficult. I have a blind spot of hatred for Mill Creek, and that is on me.
I was curious what other people had for the top 5 public courses in the Rochester area.
- Greystone
- Ravenwood
- Deerfield
- Sodus Bay Heights
- Ontario
I have to agree with this list for the most part, depending on the day I may have Mill Creek on the list or I may not. I also might flip Deerfield and Ravenwood, but only because I think there is an excessive amount up of uphill approach shots. The new club house could keep it in the 2 slot for me, Deerfield is a ghost town post round.
I have never had a round at Deerfield where the new bar/restaurant was actually open after a round. Seems so odd.
Open to Canucks?
Same, I don’t get it, maybe its staffing? Seems odd to have such a nice club house and only open it up for weddings and events.
I think i was in it once after the update. I know the old layout was atrocious. If i recall. Super small bar and just odd shaped. I guess i need to go back next year. Seemed like we always just hung downstairs after. Upstairs probably for the “season pass” holders. Lol. And they don’t want golfers up there if they are having an event maybe. Which is probably worth way more that golfers having a few beers.
Lake Effect is in full swing!
Folks, it’s official. WNY now has its own Roost. Big thank you to @Privatecollection and @GremlinGolfer for working with me today to get the Roost application reviewed and approved.
I have gone through and added everyone from the Roost sign up doc to our new Lake Effect group. Reach out to me if you either were not on the Roost sign up or I haven’t added you yet. Also, big thanks to @JoshBWNY and @ravdeb for agreeing to play the role of vice-captains and helping me to get us through this first year as a new roost.
If you are not currently in the WhatsApp group and would like to, I will again share the link to join below.
As of right now, we are working on several events for our first year, including a season long quota based game, a match play bracket, and a few other get togethers between Rochester and Buffalo. Everything is still in its infancy, I will do my best to keep everyone up to date with information as we have it.
Shout out once again to @CDHICKEY21 for Lake Effects first official logo
In no particular order:
- Greystone
- Sodus Bay Heights
- Wayne Hills
- Wild Wood
- Durand(big muni guy)
Wildwood making the list might be the most egregious thing about 2025 so far
This list is provocative and I’m hear for it. I grew up in Irondequoit and durnad might be my 2nd favorite public in town. Very sentimental. Basically the only course I make a point to play whenever I’m home.
Big fan of the greens!
Really? You a fan of this tiny thing?
Really excited for the group to get a roost. Hate that it happened after I left but happy for ya’ll! LMK about any merch @Colty
I hope there’s an event when I’m back in town over the summer!
They spent so much money on #7’s architecture they ran out of capital for the green. You know how it is sauce.
Hope all is well and you 2 are settled in to the new digs!
