Roll Call: Western New York, 2025 Roost sign up

Thanks!

I’ll be staying New Hartford for a couple of nights during the week (doing work south of there) but that weekend prior I’m not tied down - just need to be in New Hartford Monday night.

I provided a pretty wide range price wise. Green Lakes is likely the cheapest at maybe max $45, but it is really well taken care of since its run by the state. Turning Stone and Leatherstocking are easily over $100. Most Rochester are courses sit between that price wise.

If you have something particular you like in a course (Top 100 in the State, Bunch Close Together, Cheaper, etc), I can try and guide you that way as well.

Have to agree with everyone that the Ravenwood/Greystone/Deerfield suggestions are the pick of the litter as far as Rochester publics go. Coming from the New Hartford area however, those (esp Deerfield) are going to be quite the hike. The Turning Stone courses are the only things I can really speak on that would be “close” to New Hartford. They are pricey but really worth the price and good place to spend a day given the proximity to the Casino.

If you have done any “golf reading” and are familiar with Tom Coyne, you’ll be about 2 hours away from the course he is now running/planning to buy in Liberty NY (Sullivan County Golf Club) . I haven’t played it yet, but I’m quite the Coyne stan and plan to make the treck down there before the year is out.

Def, let me know if you still need someone to join you when in town, I’m always down for a quick 18/36

Pretty sure my buddy still manages a cheap muni out near Tipperary Hill in Cuse. It won’t be much to write home about but it’ll be cheap or free. Let me know if interested when out that way. Make sure to grab a sandwich from a Brooklyn Pickle in Cuse.

Just read about this a bit and have to listen to recent TGJ pod where he’s discussing the purchase, book, etc. I didn’t know where in NY it was but Liberty sounded familiar. I figured it would’ve been closer to Philly given his upbringing.

It’s about 3 hrs outside of Philly I think, and 3.5 from Rochester

Pretty even then. Very intrigued. Big Coyne fan since reading Paper Tiger.

Also won’t be too far from Amsterdam Municipal that Coyne played in A Course Called America

If you can make it down to Cooperstown, please do so, Leatherstocking is one helluva course! It’s short but not easy and it has some great classic architecture. Visits to the MLB HOF and Ommegang brewery would round out a really great day!

Didn’t realize Cooperstown was so close! It’s only a half hour from the site I’ll be working at. I’m going to have part of (or hopefully all of ) a day available mid week before I head back so that goes right to the top of the list.

I would love to join you, but unfortunately I will be flying back to Rochester from a golf trip to South Carolina on that Sunday the 23rd.

I think all the responses here have it pretty well covered. The east side of Rochester has great options, but that is a hike from New Hartford. I would echo @jsauce and say Leatherstocking is probably your best bet. I will also recommend https://teugega.com/ (Teugega Country Club). It is private, but not super exclusive, so if you are a member somewhere you can potentially have them call. Or just call up the proshop to see if they would let you out on a Sunday afternoon. Might be worth a shot.

Hello nest-in-laws my wife, a proud Buffalonian, and I will be back in town July 19-24. I was wondering if you wonderful people had suggestions for me to go play a round or would like to play a round together while I’m in town.

Are you trying to stay around Buffalo? If I’m free, I’d be happy to join

Staying at the in-laws house in Williamsville.

Plenty of folks more familiar with Buffalo golf than I am, so you are in good hands with Juan and others. Unfortunately I am going to be out of town those exact days, otherwise I would love to join to chat Michigan golf and how much I miss living out that way.

I’d look at Ivy Ridge and Glen Oak. If you don’t mind driving out a bit, look at Seneca Hickory in Niagara Falls or Deerfield/Ravenwood in Rochester

If I were to try a c-suite lifestyle any idea how easy it would be to get on at ccb? It’s less than 3 miles from where I’m staying haha.

Can’t help you there. I’ve only been in Buffalo, permanently, for about a year now, still have yet to crack that one.
