Roll Call: WA (PNW Crew)

Seattle would be so great for strapped

I think strapped Seattle starts and ends at West Seattle - there isn’t really much else until you’re getting out of town (e.g across to the olympics). You can get some mega deals down at The Classic and it has some suuuper quirky greens and a pretty laid back vibe. White horse also often has deals, and would get them over the ferry, though going back to the well down south to the Home Course for those Rainier views would be sick. (At that point is it Strapped Tacoma though?)

Honestly getting the boys onto Cap Hill for a night of Coconut Rum Shakes, DJ @ Lindas, young Neil menacing the Comet & late night Dicks, and Randy getting deep in the Karaoke scene at Hula Hula would be worth them playing anything up here.

Talk about commitment to an ethic. Travel the greatest distance possible in the lower 48 to play West Seattle, The Classic, and The Home Course.

Yeah, agreeing with @rabsie here on WS, HC, and probably The Classic for the great greens/laid back vibe/Rymo connection. The twilight deals to be had at HC and The Classic are absurd, so that’s a plus too. Personally I would call it a SeaTac Strapped, Portland would have to be its own animal.

Gold mountain is the best value for public golf in the area, has to be a strapped nominee. They could spend the whole day there for $80

I think this thread is really illustrating how dire the state of public golf in Seattle is. For a city with so much green space, the public golf scene here is really sub optimal. Don’t get me wrong, the OP and Tacoma have truly great offerings, but those offerings are off the menu on weeknights which is a real shame for Seattle proper.

Of course you’re right haha GM has to be on it. Are we talking weekend? What’s the schedule/price then?

Fri - afternoon twilight at WS ~32.00
Sat - Ferry action (good) to Olympic course ~70.00
Sun - The Classic at 230 pm for ~26.00

What about the crab wontons?

I think they normally play mid week to keep the costs down - which could mean a ~$45 round at Olympic. That’s still $200 on golf between them which feels on the high end for strapped (plus the ferry is $60!.. Out of $500).

Great offerings every where but the city of a Seattle, and you have a city council and mayor that absolutely despise the course and want to put low income housing on the properties.

I think they do the ferry to Whitehorse, hit the mega bonus, and go to salt and iron in Edmonds to celebrate. The caveat is big randy has indicated he may pick up on 18th green and walk off into the sunset if he is going to hit the mega bonus

I’m listening.

My concern as well, but the content is so good.

Absolutely. They cash the mega bonus and I’ll give them all the wontons they could handle. Let the coconut shakes and Hula Hula pina coladas flow.

Tacoma / KP strapped.

Home Course mid afternoon round - $30ish

drive over the Narrows Bridge for the #infastructure

Madrona Links after 1pm round - $25 per walking

Gold Mountain Cascade Course - $30 walking
Or spurge the extra $10-20 for the Olympic

I think I’m in the lone boat here but I don’t think the home course should be played or gold mountain. I think they should do the munis and really show the normal golf that’s always being played. Something with a rotation like west seattle, lake spanaway and then somewhere between the two cities. Honestly I wouldn’t be opposed to them being in the Olympia area and only playing courses there such as Tumwater valley, Capitol city and then something in Tacoma itself. I think there are great tracks around that really highlight golf in the area that aren’t very popular or well known. This would make it so much better than trying to show off the courses that are already widely known.

I think LS is becoming one of my favorite courses in the area and you bring up a strong case for it. Plus, last time I was there they had a big bucket deal - something like a large bucket of balls, a hot dog, and a beverage for $8. How sick/Strapped is that?? I mean unreal.

But Gold Mountain is a muni

But gold mountain is way advertised. I think it’s not in the strapped sense of things.

Gold mountain is a muni, participates in YOC, encourages everyone to play, and also hosts college tournaments. To me it is the epitome of strapped, affordable, accessible, great golf.

One random thing to consider: Lodging. Even with AirBNB you’re looking at 100 a night. That’s 200 right there. Add 150-200 in golf and you can “get over your skis” pretty quick trying to feed 2 people for 4-6 meals.
