Seems like you get the joke, so you’re in good shape already!

I’m going to find myself in the Union area next Thursday with the afternoon off. I was thinking about hitting up Aberdeen, Pevely, or Crescent on my way back towards the city. Is there a general consensus on the ranking of those 3? They are all new to me. Or if there are some hidden gems off of 44, I’d love a recommendation.

1)Aberdeen
The other two can get sucked into a giant sink hole!

Edit: I was at Aberdeen yesterday. The fairways are RUNNING and it’s tight. They have multiple bunkers being reno’d but it doesn’t matter if you just don’t hit into them. Greens are starting to get a bit marked up but I imagine rain this week should help heal.

I finally had everything clicking yesterday until I made triple on 18 with no drops. That was tough.

The more I play there the more I love 9 and 18 as mirrored closing holes.

I’ve tried to like Aberdeen for YEARS.

I’m ready to declare that it is massively overrated.

Compared to the Gateway golf scene as a hole? 100%. But in terms of that little pocket of golf courses along 44 I think it’s best by a wide margin.

For sure. But I’m ready to declare that there aren’t any good golf courses at that exit.
Aberdeen gets soooo much love in the STL public golf scene. It isn’t good!

Fiery Aberdeen is very good. Soft Aberdeen is very meh. Either Aberdeen is preferable to Pevley Farm

But why isn’t it good?

And why is it good?

I wouldn’t say it’s the best course in St Louis, but it’s absolutely good. Good shots and challenging lines get rewarded. There’s an option to play safe but you’ll pay a cost for doing so. Interesting greens and complexes that reward being in the right spots and also place value on hitting the correct shot shape into the green. Lots of greens have an option to run something up vs just playing through the air, it’s a great course to think creatively around.

They also low key have the best clubhouse bratwurst in the area. And it’s a great and fair match play course.

After playing two courses in Denver on a trip that when a resident are about the $50-60. And they had interesting holes, excellent conditions, the greens ran really well…… I kind of think St. Louis doesn’t have ANY good public golf

With normandie gone and under the knife I think I agree

^^^^ this. The golf in STL as a whole kind of blows.

What is the definition of STL for the sake of this take?
