Roll Call: St. Louis - Buildin' a fence... and JRembold is gonna pay for it

Good chance the Central Illinois news station was using a recorded swing from some other course he played.

Aberdeen continues to be in rough shape. Greens are overall okay, but there’s some heavy clay spots in the fairways that they need to rehab to get grass growing. Looks like they might try and take a few bunkers back to grass (which they should absolutely do). But it’s early days in that process.

The most egregious thing they have done is they changed their bratwurst. It used to be a very good to great traditional butcher style brat but they’ve moved to a prepackaged hotdog style brat. I will never forgive this error.

Due to weather, @ForWhomThePuttRolls and I decided to reschedule our match for next weekend. We’re now scheduled for Sunday June 1st at Crystal Highlands, teeing off at 9:10am. Two spots are open to reserve if anyone wants to join us.

@MFaulhaber18 and I finally got our match played after trying to coordinate schedules around birthdays/weddings/weather. Mitchell came out of the gate making birdies on holes 2 and 5 to have me scrambling but in the end I was able to roll a few birdies in on my own and advance. Had great weather and would battle with him anytime.

Not sure if the match between @TheEyeTest and @BabblingBrooksKoepka has been played yet, but whoever wins/won just reach out about scheduling the next round.

I believe you are correct about transitioning some bunkers to grass ones (I think it is ones where they were having major issues with drainage) and then renovating other sand ones with “new” sand that Bellerive was selling off. I am shocked to hear the greens were in good shape because I feel like every time I am out there, no one seems to do any sort of repairs to ball marks.

Its actually encouraging to believe there’s some sort of plan in place. Prior to this note, I was afraid it was more of a “giving up” situation.

Crossposting for visibility. If anyone is available June 6th-7th for an event at Park Mammoth in Kentucky, there are still a few spots open. I know @SK777 and I will both be there. Looks like it’s going to be a great time.

@Nickygifts @Jrembold @justmuckit @DivotPatterns and I were all just out there this weekend. 72 holes and 18 on the short in 2 days!

If you were on the fence, you should go. The course is spectacular. The new Par 3 course slaps too.

How were the greens running? When I played over Thanksgiving break they were running quick. I’m guessing we’ll have some spicy pin positions so need to know how many putters to bring.

They were rolling nice - wouldn’t say too spicy.

They’ve had a TON of rain this spring. There are new sod areas and some areas where sitting water have created large areas of brown spots mainly just fairways. It honestly doesn’t impact the play very much.

The biggest impact is probably just on 16, where you have the throw it all the way to the front of the green on the approach instead of carrying the bunker and watching it kick on. The first cut around the greens makes for some tricky bounces when you try to putt from the edges.

With a smaller than anticipated field, it could be a great opportunity for one of you guys to clinch a spot to the NIT!

Easy trip from the STL area, would love to see some of y’all join us

I mean, this is SOP at the publics. It was just nice to see that they are keeping them alive as best they can given the state of the rest of the course. Didn’t see any truly dead spots or crabgrass on the greens which is what I would expect if they truly didn’t care.

@IpsoFacto and I went ahead and had our match Monday because of some upcoming travel conflicts. I was able to grab a victory 3&2 at Crescent Farms, which we both thought was in really fantastic shape minus the closed par 5. Amazing company once again, combined with a great weather day, made for an awesome Memorial Day.

Looking forward to hearing about this as I am visiting Kentucky later in the fall and hoping to play Mammoth.

Nope, still haven’t played our match because I’ve been grossly negligent in my commish duties. I’ve also been out of town like three straight weekends…will get something with Tanner on the books here shortly.

I also owe everyone their mugs!!!

New to St. Louis since October and looking to explore the golf scene some more. I played Missouri Bluffs a few weeks back, any other good recommendations? Also any decent grass ranges near city / on the MO side of the river?

Hover around 8-9 handicap. Have made some friends for golf but down to fill out other foursomes if needed.

All credit to Scott.

Grass ranges are hard to come by. The one I used most often was Tower Tee. It’s perfectly fine but gets beat up pretty quickly.
