Hey @ConfluenceGC, a pretty cool Internet Friends/Cool Golf Communities crossover this weekend!
Most of you are aware of Gimme Golf Club. If not, wtf man?? Itās a pretty awesome āpublic golf clubā here in St. Louis that runs events, has two brick and mortar clubhouses with sims, provides discounted or free access to 16 network clubs around town. But even more, itās an amazing community of kind, golf-obsessed buddies.
Well the crossover part, our NLU-own KVV is coming to STL this weekend to experience the magic that is Gimme and record a narrative pod as the next installment of his series on public golf. Going to be a pretty cool thing for Gimme, and we would love to invite the greater Confluence crew to come hang with KVV and experience Gimme yourselves.
This Saturday we are having a big indoor hang/party/skins game! Free sim time 12pm-4pm, then at 4pm the party will start. We are going to have an ongoing par 3 skins contest and generally just have a good time! Bring your spouses, friends, whomever. Iāll be there with my lovely wife.
I think that is all the relevant info, but the Gimme founder Kyle Walton is going to pop in here later with a few words. Heās been an NLU lurker for a long time, need to get him into our Confluence crew!

Hey thereā¦Long time first time.
Ive been wanting to get involved with the NLU community a bit more but have had my head down building the GGC over the last 5 years.
As i was starting this club i was also pursuing a career telling stories in the golf space. This game an my camera has taken me all over the world and have had the privilege of telling some great stories along the way.
Through those experiences I have been fortunate to meet all of the NLU crew and been able to chat with them about how they do their work and also what they are buildingā¦its awesomeā¦and so are each and every person on staff at NLU.
I had DJ on my podcast a couple months agoā¦and had some chats with Tron about what we are building here in STL with the Gimme Golf Club. So, when KVV reached out about our club and wanted to come and do a narrative pod on our situation and the public golf community we are buildingā¦I obviously was pretty stoked.
So here is the invite:
Saturday KVV will be at the GGC located on 425 Clark Street in St. Charles and we will be having a big open house / skins game hangā¦ I understand if there is some hesitancy to come hang but i assure the GGC crew is a welcoming bunch, which is why this invite is coming to you all.
We have 3 trackmans, a putting green, barbershop, full caddie bar (called Loopers) and a bunch of golf sickos (530 members now)ā¦
Starting at 4pm on Saturday we will be having an indoor skins game (prob at the cradle) which will operate similar to how our indoor leagues work. If you hit it in the gimme circle on the trackman you have to validate your skin with a real putt on our greenā¦ with about 30-50 people yelling at you to miss. It is a great time.
The skins game is $10 and you can buy your own drinks from the bar. Come and play, or just come and hang out and say hi to KVV.
This invite and my involvement with this roost is long overdue.

I was also told about an event going on Friday at Ballwin GC. Didnāt get many details other than to show up and jump in a group. Do you have any info on that?

We do have our weekly āpotluckā skins game on Friday night. We have the tee sheet from 2:30pm til the end of the night. This event is typcially Wide open and we encourage everyone to roll through. Last week sugarloaf social club was in town to tell a story about us as well and we had almost 70 people thereā¦it was crazy.
My instincts suggest it will be even more this week so i was a little hesistant to open it up to everyone as i am worried we may not have enough space. But if you want to roll through you most certainly can.

Has anybody played Annbriar recently on the Illinois side? Is something wrong with it? Tons of tee times and theyāre all 60-65 bucks. I moved out of Illinois/Stl area 4 years ago and it was a great track.
I played last weekend and nothing wrong at all except it was still a bit wet/sloppy in some of the valleys. It still is a top tier track in the area and was in amazing condition. The rough was high and thick with all the rain so if they havenāt dried it out or mowed much, beware.

Just played there Monday, fairways were shaggy but they were out mowing once the rain moved out mid-morning.
Should be in pretty damn good shape today.

Most of the times Iām seeing are either off-peak weekday after 5pm/weekend afternoon. Only a few one off morning times. I would bet theyāre pretty busy out there.
Theyāve always kept rates lower compared to similarly conditioned courses closer to the metro but itās still $80 for the morning on a weekend. Probably still worth the drive out.

I know not many in here are around Columbia but playing Eagle Knoll south of Columbia at 1:30 on Sunday if anyone is in the area. I booked 2 slots but looks like the other 2 are available.

If we didnāt already have a packed weekend I would probably make the trip out. I want to get to Tanglewood soon despite the not great April condition reports. Itās not like courses towards STL are looking stellar either right now.
Maybe that first full weekend, June 7?
Anyone want to make a little day trip out?
