Roll Call: Oklahoma "The Supercell" - The Gusher @ Hillcrest 6/28

Roll Calling as I just joined the Nest/Refuge. The Supercell is a great name and the Logo is even better. Just added myself to the google sheet for the roost.

Moved to Oklahoma City in August 2020 by way of Little Rock, Arkansas. Junior member at Twin and bounce between 0-3 on GHIN playing 50+ times/year.

Have really enjoyed Twin, but also looking to get involved in the refuge/roost, meet up and play other courses in the area as I know there are some good ones! Have played Lincoln, Kickingbird, Fairfax, and Jimmie Austin (albeit 10 years ago) so far.

Welcome! I am lucky enough to get to play Twin once a year for the IADC tourney. Gotta love the club specials!

Thanks! The first time I played Twin was at the IADC tournament in August 2020. Fell in love with it (and the club specials).

Can’t wait!

Welcome! Gotta get you down to Dornick to see a restored Maxwell. Maybe you can preach the gospel of tree removal to the Twin membership.

They’re finishing some heavy trimming work on the back 9 right now (to compliment the front 9 work last year after the ice storm). Not removal, which id definitely prefer, but is a definite improvement.

Absolutely. Definitely would like to play Dornick soon! I’m sure it is kinda tough now with it just now reopening to members.

Tulsans, if you could take a minute today and drop a note to your city councilor and Mayor Bynum it might make a difference.

Just got this email from my old boss Ken Macleod, owner/editor/publisher of Golf Oklahoma Magazine:

"If you saw the Tulsa World story today on the city courses, our golf committee has a meeting this Friday with some city folks. If you would like to see the city do something about this situation this would be a good week to drop a note to your city councilor and blind copy me (ken@golfoklahoma.org) and let him or her know in your own words that you would like to see the city invest before it’s too late to turn this around. All the councilors can be reached at their emails, which ar:
Vanessa Hall-Harper: Dist1@citycouncil.org
Jeannie Cue: dist2@tulsacouncil.org
Crista Patrick: dist3@tulsacouncil.org
Kara Joy McKee: dist4@tulsacouncil.org
Mykey Arthrell-Knezek: dist5@tulsacouncil.org
Connie Dodson: dist6@tulsacouncil.org
Lori Decter Wright: dist7@tulsacouncil.org
Phil Lakin: dist8@tulsacouncil.org
Jayme Fowler: Dist9@citycoucil.org

Copy Mayor Bynum at gt@cityoftulsa.org.

Also feel free to share this with any other friends you have that play out there . . . or used to.

Thanks for any help!

Ken"

Page used to be a great spot - now I would be embarrassed if a friend from out of town saw it. They just seem to have given up completely.

I would suggest they sell it to a private management company, but my parents live on White Hawk and at least Page is still open…

Copy and paste that and a few more sentences voicing your displeasure to your City Councilor! (not sure if you live in the city limits or not)

I do, and I will!

Has there been any indication at all on what the White Hawk property will become? As Bixby, Glenpool, and farther southern areas continue to develop, there could be a market for another course.

Ooooh buddy, let me tell you. Owner recently put the clubhouse and parking lot into a new LLC and has dug up the 10th tee and 18th green to expand the pond and turn it all into a wedding venue despite promising the neighborhood he would keep working to reopen it as a golf course. HOA is trying to get an injunction, but dirt work continues…

…at this point, the entire course is in such disrepair it would have to be a complete and total rebuild - including irrigation and a new layout for 10 and 18.

What’s everyone’s golf goals for 2022? I was inspired by the newest TrapDraw and here’s mine (speak them into existence):

  • Never shoot above an 85
  • Play 5 new courses (Not Oklahoma specific)
  • Practice once a week (net session and/or range/green)
  • Drop my HC down to a 4 (would like to get back to the 2’s)

Wow, what a shame. I never had the chance to play it but from what I hear it was a good track. Too bad Heckenkemper can’t come in and restore.

There was talk of the City of Bixby and the Creek Nation working together to save it, but that went radio silent for a bit and then dozers started moving dirt and everyone realized what homeboy had done with the clubhouse so that was the answer…

There’s such limbo about that area now that no one knows what’s going to happen but I sure wish I was a litigator because there’s some billable hours in there for sure haha
