Alright throwing out my top five I’ve either played or seen (at least walked either as a caddie or a fan on the fairways).
- Moraine
- Camargo
- Inverness
- Canterbury
- Springfield

Since all the cool kids are doing it:
I have to say TGC & Canterbury are really good courses but the “vibes” are what really make them special… Canterbury w/ the Evans Scholars history, trophy room, and the back patio bar is just so sick. The Golf Club has been hit on in this thread before but from the time you arrive until the time you leave everything is perfect.
Also, since we’re harping on Ohio public golf I would like to take a moment to remember our friend Cook’s Creek. RIP
Inverness - biased for sure but it’s a total examination of a golfer and one of the best pure tests of golf anywhere in the world. No tricks. Can you pick the right shot and can you execute it. Major championship ready conditioning every day. Welcoming club that wants you to love your experience whether you are a member or guest.
Scioto - a gentle lovely walk. In my opinion the best overall club scene in Ohio. Elite clubhouse environment. They do a great job of honoring their history. Would feel so lucky to be a member there.
Moraine - stellar golf course. Exceptional conditioning. Club has a great sense of place. Fits Dayton perfectly.
Camargo- super fun golf course, but not the test of the first three. Can be ridiculously hard if they want to make it so; it’s a different kind of hard than Inverness. There’s more randomness to it. Sneaky good, understated vibe. Conditioning is pristine.
The Golf Club - good, not great golf course. Maybe the best clubhouse experience in America. Staff is absolutely top notch. I love the place.
Here’s the Roost Merch Mega Pack that I’m currently contriving. All will be brand new item designs, except possibly the logo ball marker if we keep the OH marker. Everything free personalization and maybe an alternate option for some items…
Bag tag
Ball marker
Divot tool
Caddy towel
Stash tin (think altoid tin)
Sticker sheet
I’m thinking around $100+tax shipped CONUS and if you only wanted one or two items those could be available
These are the new leather tags…maybe a red/blue one with foil stamping?
What divot tool? You know where my heart resides…
Just got an email from the course I play the most, and they were open for golf at 265 days so far this year and counting (he’ll open when it’s over about 50° and not raining much any Fri-Mon over the “winter” months).
The northeast and midwest-adjacent states often get a bad rap for the length of the golf season.

I have something for you sir. I’m working on some big big ideas
Insert my man Denzel gif
Not an actual altoid tin like I used to use to hide my weed?
No, exactly like that (I’m assuming)
If it was like those Zyn holder tins the high plains roost (I think it was them) got that would be sweet.
It’ll be more of an altoid style. Those zyn aluminum tins are very pricy to procure. They’re like $20/ea blank - that being said I might scoop a couple to make one for my brother for Xmas
I’m not a Zyn guy but would order three and ship a couple to friends.
I am a single prong repair tool guy from way back. Please count me in for any of those shenanigans.
This looks awesome! I can do some more sticker designs if you want.
Anyone played Fireridge in Millersburg? I drove by it the other day and looked like a fun track with some good views. I’m thinking maybe an opportunity create an event for 2025?
Agreed. I had a v high quality afternoon at Jungle Jim’s for the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout release today.
There were a ton of options available on draft, and my favorite was the Goose Island Caramella Wheatwine Ale from 2020.
Market district near me has 18 taps all on smaller kegs so the entire board is different if you go twice a week. Everything is a dollar+ cheaper than if you went anywhere else. Pre-Covid it was $5 for a flight. When I was broke as a joke in college I used to pickup food and get a flight as a special treat.
