Top ten for sure, no shot at top 5

Boos in Daytonian

Dayton can’t have all the best golf in the state. But it does have a lot of it.

Inverness was a top 5 overall golf experience for me, but in terms of pure golf course design and thought I enjoy Moraine a decent bit more. Maybe I just haven’t seen Inverness enough times to appreciate it. Moraine requires a lot of choices on strategy along with shot execution

I agree on the choices, Inverness does get driver heavy on the back 9.

18 is probably my favorite closing hole I’ve ever played regarding Inverness.

You could rearrange those first four in any order and you’d be correct.

Figuring out #5 is more interesting than debating the order of 1-4.

FTR, I love Moraine — the entire golf experience is outstanding…everyone should see it. But you gotta have 16-18 bangers to jump into the Top 5 and Moraine can only claim 14, at best

Man I just have to hard disagree with you if you think Moraine only has 14 bangers and you think Muirfield has more than that.

Honestly the only true weak hole I can think of out at Moraine is #1 and it’s just because it’s a handshake hole more than anything else. I know people like to give 10 and 11 gruff because they are flat when the rest of the property isn’t but 10’s green complex and the creek running through and 11’s length with it’s tough green make them unique and interesting on that course. Not every hole can be massive land movement.

I’d say 10-12 at Moraine are boring only because the rest of the course isn’t, they don’t need to be bangers but there’s a lot of uninspired on those three holes in particular.

Again, this is all sports bar discussion and no one is ever right or wrong

Agree with this completely. I’m not going to harangue anyone for having a different opinion than me on golf course architecture.

I just love the green complex on 10 and think that it makes up for the rest of the hole being flat and straight. Eleven is a tough, tough hole that is sneaky and twelve is a great long par 3.

Anyway, I think the main thing I disagree with is Muirfield being in the top 5 of any “best of Ohio” list.

Brother this is not how America works anymore.

This is a Delta Sky Lounge “C Suite” discussion about private golf club rankings.

Definitely not a discussion I’ve heard at the local dive bar.

Does Double Eagle fit in anywhere on these lists? I haven’t played it but it looks awesome from Google Earth views, looks like a lot of cool bunkering and unique green complexes from what I can see.

I’m also not a huge golf course architecture guy though.

trust me, i know, but i think it’s more fun to escape America by having golf discussions instead of literally anything else

have never played it, i’ve always heard the #vibes are off the charts but the course is not as strong as others in Columbus. I do know the Tiki bar is supposed to be top notch
