Does any of the NEO guys have thoughts on Stonewater? I am considering taking the plunge this year, but have never even played it. Free driver and fitting for joining this year and I need that anyways. I love the idea of unlimited practice 5 minutes from house as well. How walkable is it?
Iām actually surprised you only bought 4 putters
I never seek it out to play. But the few times Iāve played Iāve enjoyed it. I recall it being flat but spread out. So walks arenāt tiring but can be long between green and tee.
Close proximity golf is such a big pro.
2 of 14 clubs have made it from the fall into the spring bag.
I remember some decent green to tee commutes from the handful of times I played it. Also, FWIW, their professional staff is very well regarded in terms of fitting and teaching.
I made one of my patented impulse
purchases at play it again sports. This thing is guaranteed to start the season with potential only to finish towards the bottom half of the putter standings.
White Hot!!
Guaranteed to have a good time on Opening Day.
Iām not a rules expert by any means but this seems pretty straight forward unless Iām missing something. Isnāt it 1 club length no closer to the hole from the nearest point of complete relief from stance and swing? The nearest point of complete relief is clearly on the right side of the path and then one club length from there.
If the ball was resting on the left side of the path I think that would be different
With the pin where it was yesterday. I agree. But if its down in the front, even front left, it gets harder to determine. I pulled my shot (obviously) and it actually kicked off the hill on the left and then bounced off the curb instead of nicely rolling to the green.
If it was front/front left wouldnt the drop just be further up? That top dot I added would be further from a front pin
It could end up being that your āclosest reliefā going up, and keeping that arc, would be further away from the hillside behind the cart path. That case your closest relief, no closer to the hole, is on a 60-70 degree slope. Fine design, bad cart path, worse curb. It would be cool if you could actually still use the hillside as a kicker, even if it was down into a bunker or thick rough.
What we have come up with as the most legitimate and fair(ish) option to be is a drop zone. Probably toward the back of the green, where there is some rough between the path that wraps around behind. Not a lot of people are blowing it over a 180-190 yard par 3, so that area could stand to get beat up a little.
We have reached and surpassed 50 respondents so far. Thatās INCREDIBLE! Keep 'em coming!
The survey will close on Thursday, March 19 so if you have yet to jump in there and let it rip, please do so.
I agree, the question is what do you do if the ball is on the left side of the path up against the hill?
In our league I believe we do unplayable and drop in the area Alex referred to. That hill sucks a fat one. Probably my least favorite hole on the course.
I liedā¦survey still open. 11 PM tonight is the deadline
Our friend Tom at Napoleon GC wanted me to send out to the group. Apparel order for a short run of the Napoleon National GC.
