I recognize I started this but Cincy is a long haul for me. Could look at a 7/3 hotel if the spots don’t get filled otherwise. I know myself enough that a 5a wake up and 4 hour drive equals miserable golf
no sweat, man!
Any of the Columbus Sweetens crew want to come join Rob and I for some Independence Day morning golf?
@PlumbBobMillionaire @wreckhockey @Albatrossity
It’s my birthday, the song will be played.
I would if I could
I need to be better involved in the SW area of OATW, but 2 kids in the parade and an annual party. Enjoy the round.
YouTube suggested a Good Good video for me where they’re doing stuff in Columbus and then playing CCC. Not a fan of their content and think several of them are extremely annoying, and now I feel even more justified in the hate because they said Granddad’s pizza isn’t very good and wouldn’t eat it despite it being free and then basically doing a Strapped ripoff thing
Nothing upsets OATW like pizza takes, haha
I am extremely jealous of the courses/access they got when they were in Columbus
Video starts with half of them hanging out at Jason Day’s house when he wasn’t even home
Yep, they also got to play Double Eagle too, both of which are very close to my house.
Canton Brookside, Country, Kirtland, and Canterbury are the four best in NEO. The fifth is up for debate. I generally prefer classic to modern, but I very much prefer Sand Ridge to Elyria. I know that’s blasphemy around these parts lol, but Elyria needs work. There’s definitely high upside, and the land is really cool, but it’s not quite top tier in its present form. Also Pepper is in the discussion, but access is really limited.
What do you want them to do to Elyria?
If anyone has had any plans change recently, we still need 3 people for the rust belt rumble on Saturday. $100 for 36 holes, breakfast and lunch included. We had a several people sign up and never bother telling me they’d not be able to play, so I’m scrambling pretty hard to fill the spots
The same as any woke GCA nerd, really - tree removal and green and fairway expansion.
It’s been a minute, but just a few I can recall off the top of my head - the trees on 1 pinch the hole in like at Firestone South. 10 is weird with just bombing it down there into the rough being the proper play (although to be fair, that green can punish you if you have a bad angle/lie). The trees between the fairway and river on 16 and 17 should be thinned (with a few strategically left) and fairway expanded up to the water’s edge to tempt the player to get more aggressive.
It’s also mildly scruffy, which isn’t really a big deal (so is Manakiki on occasion and I love that place, but it’s a muni), but it was noticeable for a private club. Could have caught it during a bad weather stretch, though, so I don’t put much weight on that.
Planning to hate watch it later just to see how the course is presented.
They make no effort to show off the course or talk about what makes it good, other than talking about how pure the greens are at the end. I’ve honestly never seen one of their videos where they made any attempt to talk about the course in an intelligent or informative way
Hey Cincy guis, got to play Ivy Hills today. Played in a superintendents scholarship outing. Very cool piece of property and vibe. I didn’t realize Mike Strantz did the original design, but after playing it, I can absolutely see the influence.
6 months. Jesus RR. It’s been a minute
