Went up north on Thursday for a buddyās 50th birthday bash and knocked out 4 coursed I had never played before. We played The Legend and The Quarry on Thursday. My initial thoughts are that I liked the Legend a little better than the Quarry but the Quarry was a more āinterestingā golf course. On Friday we played The Wilderness. The weather was fucking terrible, it rained the whole round and at times it was coming down pretty hard. Cart path only, and everywhere you stood on the fairway water was coming up out of the ground but even with that, that place was amazing! On Saturday, we played Superior National. Once again, the weather was not good. Foggy and overcast the entire round, rained on us for about 3 holes, and we couldnāt see the lake. I donāt even think I can ārateā the course. The greens were so difficult to read, I struggled the entire day. I need a return trip because I donāt feel like I got a good experience there.
The weather was less than ideal for the whole trip so, Iām not sure I fully appreciated any the courses. After leaving Giantās Ridge on Thursday, I was telling a buddy that I thought the courses were sweet but Iām not sure Iād need to come back and play them. Iām not sure if thatās an indictment on the courses as much as it was just the shitty weather. I definitely want to go back and play the Wilderness again. Course was so much fun plus I won money at the casino!

After much preparation and scouting (laziness) @Mystic and I have finally scheduled our semifinal match.
This Wednesday (9/21) at 7:40 a.m. we will be battling at Highland.
Weāve got one spot open to join us because somehow Wednesday morning tee times go like wildfire a week and half in advance and I could only grab 3 spots.
Join us for what should be a sloppy duel for a championship spot and the right to get 14 strokes against @charvey in the final!

Can anyone tell me what course Forest Hills is similar to? From the aerials it seems like a nicer version of Majestic Oaks. Are there lots of tight tee shots where driver is not an option for longer players?
Itās very narrow but not especially long. I would say itās similar to Keller pre-tree removal in that way. Assuming youāre playing from the blues, you can take driver on most of the par 4/5 (except 2, unless you can hit a slinger from right to left), but you donāt need to on a lot of them. I love Forest Hills. Also take a conservative line on 15, the wetland bordering the lake is no joke.

After much anticipation and fanfare, I bested @Mystic 1 up today at Highland.
Nobody ever got more than 1 up as we battled back and forth alongside our playing partner Mike. Mike was sweet and had a sick pre-shot knee bending routine. He cussed himself out on about half his shots as he couldnāt figure out why he was hitting his SLDR driver off the planet. He bailed after 13 holes but Dave and I went the distance, tied going into 18. I made par, and Daveās par putt just lipped out.

The fact that it was a SLDR driver probably didnāt do him any favors.
