Yup! 100% worth the stop if you’re near the area.

that was a fun watch - you did a good job highlighting the land movement on the course, especially the greens. I’m itching to play there again

The traj off of the 6th tee, and that pitch on 11 to that right pin :pinched_fingers:

Looks like you had almost all of the same pins I did for my round. A lot of familiar looks there.

Wish I set the camera on the green for that chip on 11, would’ve been nice to see how it got that close. Not the ideal spot to miss lol

Someone said here previously that American Dunes is 12 good, 3 meh and 3 “bad” holes (I’m paraphrasing) I guess I’m struggling with the bad ones. 6 meh, but there mehs everywhere. Thoughts?

That was me. I think 9 and 18 stink and so does the uber long par 5 (13?). To have both finishing holes stink is a pretty egregious fail. The long par 5 is just a straight line to get to the back part of the property. Stupid and lazy.

Ive never played the course. But from google earth scouting the routing also seems super weird.

In fairness they had to stay within the confines of the pre-existing course which is why I think 1-3 are meh but I don’t really hold that against them.

Hey! Where the $&@“ have you been?!

I don’t love 9 but I think the course is awesome

It definitely is.

Course isn’t bad but just overpriced, as with many Nicklaus courses… I’m 5 mins away and went at 6pm yesterday to try and play a twilight 9 and it was still $100… I drove down to Holland instead and played Three Fires for $23.

Thoughts on Three Fires? I drive by it not infrequently but have never up and played it. Too many options around here otherwise, and they always seem to be buried by dudes in jean shorts carrying Big Berthas - neither for hipster reasons.

I played Flame/Blaze on Saturday and then Flame again yesterday… it’s fine. ROI is high based on the rates. It’s very flat, straight back and forth holes, nothing too special or unique. Blaze does have a par 3 that they can tip out at an insane 255yds.

Your observation is very on point, a lot of recreational golfers who tee-off multiple times if they spread it OB, non-chalant foot wedge players, etc, etc., but for the price, it’s not bad. If you’re in the area and want to get out, a solid option but def not worth driving out for.

American Dunes does have some sick par 3s. I just think it’s too penal of a course overall, with exactly one way to play each hole. Didn’t do much to scratch my golf itch while simultaneously eviscerating my wallet.

To those who have played both American Dunes and Harbor Shores, which would you choose? Both Nicklaus course, both around the same price. Seems like HS may have better views but AD has that whole Folds of Honor affiliation.

Harbor Shores also hosts the Senior PGA quite frequently if you’re into that.
