Mercifully, we have somehow dodged most of the snow. This time last year we had about 24" accumulation. Polar Vortex is upon us, though.

Hello everyone. Longtime NLU fan, finally joined the Nest. I’ve always been more of a golf fan then a golfer but trying to play a lot more the last few years. Based on the eastside in the Grosse Pointes. Swing is getting better but still working on breaking 100 consistently.

The best thing that I ever did for myself (other than buying clubs for the first time) was to get 5 one hour golf lessons. I told him that I’m not trying to redefine my swing or gain a ton of distance, I just wanted to get more consistency. What he told me helped so much, and it was very small things like I was standing too close to the ball, and my stance was too wide while swinging my irons. Long story short, don’t be afraid to treat yourself to professional help to improve.

Welcome! Enjoy the shenanigans behind the paywall and let me know if you’d like more details about joining the Fresh Coast Flock, our MI based roost - we’d love to see ya at an event or two this year!

Hey all- came across the NLU podcast then YouTube channel last year and absolutely love it. Decided to finally hop on the message boards. I’m a Royal Oak resident and play all over… Played over 300 courses in our fair state. Pleased to make all your acquaintance!

Welcome! I live on the west side but work over on the east side. Whereabouts do you like to play?

you’re well on your way to checking off all [checks TS:Michigan notes] 6,000 courses we have to offer!

I get a lot of practice rounds out at Selfridge… but play all over. I try to get in 15-20 GAM/USGA/Golf Week events each year, so wherever those take me each year.

Looking for Traverse City help below please…

I’lll have a group of 12 departing from Arcadia and headed to Forest Dunes on Wednesday 7/10. We’ll push off from Arcadia about 9AM and stop in Traverse City to grab groceries and booze for Forest Dunes (5 nights).

One caveat is that group will all be on one limo bus so we’d like to limit stops.

Is it possible to find a good brewery for lunch, a higher end grocer/butcher, a liquor store and a dispensary within very close proximity (a couple blocks) to one another? Or, are we better off making a couple stops. We’ll swing through TVC and grab a couple more guys before heading to Forest Dunes at 1PM.

Open to all suggestions. Grazi!

Thanks. Completely agree, that is what I did this past year. Bought a pack of 10 lessons from a local pro and learned a ton. Now I just need to put in the time practicing/playing to get it honed in.

Thank you. I am definitely interested in the roost and meeting some of the community in person this year.

Thanks. Still don’t get in a ton of rounds but locally I love just playing 9 at Chandler Park. Also, do a family trip up to Gaylord each year.

This your answer. Two high end grocery stores/Wine Shops within a block of North Peak. Cheese shop even just two blocks away.

Burritt’s is basically right across the street from North Peak; could just park at NP for food/drink and walk over to Burritt’s for your groceries. No idea on dispensaries, unfortunately, but you should be able to find one w/o much trouble - they’re all over northern MI.
